What exactly is MMR? and is it broken?

So okay, this isn't the first time today (or recently) I have gotten these type of match ups. I am curious, the two unranked were gold V last season (though one got that in 10 matches).

The score obviously tells the story, the difference in skill. I wont try to say "I am good." Nor will most of my friends this game, for instance, will say they are worth anything higher than a gold player.

So is MMR just broken, or am I just really unlucky?

I have even thought of making a second account just to play with people my own skill levels or just right above them.

I should mention, this team was the only team that wasn't BMing all throughout the game.

was this a normal game? Because your mmr for normal games is different from ranked games so is often quite possible to end up on match ups like that since some of this diamond players don't play many normals on this accounts

This is why I can't wait until someone makes a better MOBA than league. Normals is supposed to be relaxed away from ranked, just to have some fun, whatever. Instead, they fuck you over in normals match making like no other, because riot doesn't give 2 fucks.

I'm a gold-level player, been playing this for a while now. I can't get my normals "mmr" to go up so i'm playing with better people who don't lose the whole fucking game in laning phase, and it makes me want to be done. Because the stress-free (supposedly) part of league is turning into frustration of being stuck on losing streaks when you're personally, doing well, but every other person on your team goes 2-8 and loses.
