What does the Border around some champions ( in profile ) mean?

I thought it might be involved with mastery but i have the border on a few champs that i have yet to play in ranked in season 6, nor do they have very much mastery. and then i have my mains with max mastery with no borders.

1 chest per champ per month I believe. So next month you will be able to get that chest again with the same champ.

1 chest per champ per season

1 chest becomes unlockable per 7 days, and can add up to a maximum of 4 in stock.

And each key fragment you win makes the next one harder to earn. Each month that factor is reset to its original value.

If you play with a friend, and that friend gets an S rating with an X champ, and you were playing another Y champion, you get a chest too, but that Y champ you were playing is also blocked from earning a chest for the whole season.

Meaning you can only win as many chest as there are champs in the game.
