According to Riot, duo queuing with someone who is elo boosting while having full knowledge that they are, in fact, elo boosting, is not punishable. Why is this so? If elo boosting is as bad as Riot makes it out to be (and I do agree with them that elo boosting is a horrible thing that should be severely punished), then why is it fine to duo queue with someone who is elo boosting? It doesn't make sense.
Tilomentry2 votesMostly because the one duo queueing with the booster still has to "pull his own weight." It isn't like traditional boosting where someone pays a booster to play on their acount and they effectivly "buy" a diamond ranking. The person who's duo queueing still has to play the game and put effort into winning each match. It might be much easier to do than playing on their own but they are still limited on how high they can go based on the upper limit of their skill.

Just because duo queuing with an elo booster isn't as bad as being elo boosted yourself doesn't mean that it's fine. Regardless of how bad it is compared to actual elo boosting, it's still definitely bad, so it should be punishable.
Tilomentry1 votesNot really. Duoing with a better player helps a bit but you won't get any ranked underevingly. If you can't keep up with the high level games then you won't be climbing regardless of how good your partner is. It's a bit more akin to "coaching" than "elo boosting" at this point because gaining elo won't happen unless the player learns how to play better at higher levels.
Now if its duoing with an acount that is being "Elo boosted" as you mentioned in another of your comments, thats a whole different beast.

I thought that might have been the case, but the first sentence I highlighted says "...and you would also like to clarify if duo queueing with an Elo booster player is still punishable." which was basically my exact question. Therefore, even if the message was copy pasted, it still answers my question; a player CAN NOT be punished for duo queueing regardless of who they're duo queueing with.
Environmentalist1 votesNah I wouldn't think so. If you think about it, say your buddy got elo boosted from bronze to gold. If you duo with him, you'll be playing against higher elo players, alongside your buddy, who is actually bronze elo. Don't think it would go too well, so Riot probably let's you punish yourself :P

I don't think you understand the base question. I'll lay out an example for you.
Person A is bronze 5. Person B is bronze 5. Person C is Diamond 1. Person C is playing on person B's bronze 5 account. Person C is duo queueing with person A.
Now do you see the problem? You can duo queue with someone while they're being elo boosted, not just after they've already been elo boosted. That means everyone in the game would be bronze five, but the person you're duo queuing with has diamond 1 skills. You can repeatedly do this and Riot won't punish you since they do not punish players for duo queuing regardless of who they're duo queuing with.

From this example, Person B's acount is bannable for being elo boosted (It's not person C's acount and is getting an undeserved rank) but person A is still technically innocent. Firstly, getting solid evidence that person C is repetitively boosting him in duo's from different acounts is hard. And second, Person A still has to have enough skill to keep up with higher level play or else he'll feed like crazy and it wont matter how hard person C carries. Person C might get Person A up to Silver and maybe even Gold but it would be impossible for him to get him any higher.

If you don't make it obvious with chat logs, then there's nothing to say otherwise that Person A thinks he's playing with the real slim sha- I mean real Person B. I think it's one of those "you're not supposed to but it's tough to ban someone for it" kinda thing.

Both of you bring up the point that it would be difficult to punish someone who is duo queuing with an elo booster, but even so, it seems strange to me that something would be allowed purely because it's difficult to catch. That's kind of like saying robbing a house in the middle of nowhere is fine since you probably won't get caught. :/
Regarding the fact that duo queuing with an elo booster can only get you so far since you still carry some weight, that makes sense, but even if you were to just advance one entire league from this method, that would still be a huge improvement that you don't deserve. So yeah, it's not nearly as bad as elo boosting, but it's still bad.
