Creating more advanced bots for a research project

I am an undergrad student working in a machine learning lab at MST. A lot of work in the lab will be coming to an end this spring, and we haven't a clue about what to do next. We are all friends, we play league together, and even have talked about making a ranked 5's team, but we are all so busy with our work.

Our main goal would be to create bots that would be able to play the game better than the currently implemented ones. We have the resources to do this, just not the permission from you guys, Riot-Games. While there is no practical application to this, that we know of, it would be in the pursuit of knowledge and understanding about what the limits of artificial AI is.

Well that shouldn't be too hard lol.

I was leveling my EUW smurf today and saw about 10 different bots there. One of them went like 18/4/10 on Ryze lol. They would all screw up their pathing sometimes when they got stuck on corners, they followed very clear routines when it came to chasing and backing, and at one point I watched 3 bots in one game chase a <100 hp co-op bot into the fog of war, then simultaneously start recalling as soon as the co-op bot hit fog of war and disappeared from their view. It was pretty funny. They pretty much destroyed the co-op bots.

Yeah I agree, practically every game that I have a bot on my team, I lose. We should make the bots a higher level when you are playing against real people. (I am talking about the Dangerous Ones)
