Currently providing feedback during a game, commenting on strategy, or trying to assist another player can only be done in team chat which is nearly always taken as negative or attempting to call someone out. I think that being able to whisper someone on your team to try to help or provide support would make people less defensive as they can see you are taking the effort to talk to them offline and not try to blame them in front of the team.
I think most of the time it would result in a;
/All [Noob 1]: Why are you harassing me in private whispers HonkLord?
Ya know those EXTREMELY toxic, disturbed players who will occasionally send a friend request to someone in postgame when they feel like death threats are in order?
Yeah, don't give them a tool like this.
If giving advice is seen as negative when it isn't, then I don't really care. People misinterpret stuff all the time, and they will do the exact same thing with a whisper. How do you know a perfectly neutral advice-whisper won't be seen as "This is me whispering you an insult, given that I'm not willing to say it in front of the rest of the team"?
