Why does riot still tolerate this?
Subject: Progressive Punishments and Chat Restrictions
When someone tells someone else to "kill yourself", "slit your wrists", or "go die" isn't it clear that this is someone who we simply do not want in the community any longer? And yet it seems like these types of people get away with just chat restrictions and week long bans because we keep seeing them over and over. Yes, I agree there is merit in have progressively harsher punishments such as: chat restriction-->1day ban-->4day ban-->2 week ban.
But I don't think believe it should apply to statements like the above. People like this simply need to be removed from the game with a permanent ban. "Uninstall u fing noob" or "U suck bitch" is something I can see progressive punishments being used for. It's rude and immature but it doesn't really hurt the person the same way that "i hope you and your family gets cancer and dies" does. I would rather 3 people be justly removed from the game than 1 be reformed and the other 2 continuing to be hatefully toxic. Its really irrelevant if its a first time offence or not. Language like this cannot continue to be tolerated.
Someone will probably point out that a permanently banned account doesn't mean a permanent ban from league as someone can just start a new account. Well if they start a new account and manage to play without telling people to go kill themselves, so be it. That's reform. They were punished with a permanently banned account and now they have learned their lesson (and I don't mean that in a condescending way, they genuinely learned). If they make a new account and continue with their old ways they would keep being banned until they quit,
Anyway just my 2 cents.
