Why doesn't qss have an ap build path?

Qssitem 3140 has become quite a popular item more recently but always has been. I was just wondering, why isn't there and AP item that you can build it into? It is really strange when your full build to just go ahead and upgrade it to an ad item. It doesn't have to be a major AP item just maybe like 40-60 AP and some mana regen or something, so that way it is more of a reliable item instead of making it seem like "oh there is a Warwick on there team i have to waste my money on a qss this game" Just a thought and was wondering if there ever is a plan to add this to the game :)

Ap champions can have invulnerability with item 3157 . Ad champs can't have that.

Edit: You could buy item 3222 , but I don't think any mage beside supports would ever do that.

It's not a Mage only item. It's a purely defensive item, like GA, that you have to decided to give up damage for.

I'd rather see them create a defensive item out of it, not an AP item. Then you can still build it if you want but you are making a trade to do it. Something like Giants Belt plus QSS would be neat since there isn't any Giants belt Mr item yet. But, would that encroach too much on Banshee's veil? I dunno.

Making an AP version of it would just lead to almost every AP champ building it, then they blow their cc on each other and just kinda have a Mexican standoff.

The same reason AD's don't have a item 3157 item, so both AP and AD carries can't just get both and be completely impossible to ever lock down and kill.

  1. You don't want mana regen on a QSS item. It is not a good idea to have that be an early item.
  2. AP/MR items are weird. In certain circumstances, one champion building them first can force their enemy to as well. It is the same reason there aren't any AD/armour items.
  3. CC doesn't affect AD champions and AP champions in the same way. Typically AD champions have lower burst damage but higher sustained damage, making CC differently effective in different circumstances.
