Riot Does Not Care About Scripters That You Report (WARNING: Long Post)

I'll preface this with some elaboration on the title. I've been reporting players for cheating, macroing, scripting, or doing just about anything that I can't report them for in the client since I started playing in 2009. Though, I vaguely remember there being a "cheating" option back then.

This last month, I hit my final straw. I was going to make sure Riot Support understands completely why I'm accusing this person of scripting, and send them a ticket with heaps of evidence. I had this logic because every single person I've reported in the past for scripting is still doing so. There seems to be no inactivity on their account and they've all plateaued in diamond 4-2.

I've redacted the names in this case to avoid breaking any rules. I opened the ticket like this:

Title: Player Using Scripts Blatantly

Subject: The player with the summoner name REDACTED has been spamming Syndra and Vayne in ranked solo and ranked 5v5 using Scripts to win games.

I have video evidence of the player using evade scripts and Syndra scripts.

I know it's not your policy to tell me if the player is banned, but would you please let me know this isn't futile.

I kept it short and sweet for a few reasons. For one thing, the first response is generalized and you're given the "help" advice that, say, a computer would give you when you hit f1. It is the second response where you can elaborate for them. My phrasing is explained simply by my sheer frustration at the time of sending the ticket. I was in diamond 5 at the time, and coming off a 4 win streak, I am going legendary in this game 16-4 but this scripter is winning the game because he's not getting hit by any skillshots and he's killing my entire team. We lose this game, and I lose ALL of the LP I grinded that night. I haven't been playing since then until this player is punished.

This is the generic response you receive the first time you send a ticket, it's nothing abnormal:

Hey Neko,

Thank you for the report. I'll file this ticket for our investigation team, and they'll look into it. That said, due to the sensitive nature of this report, I will be unable to share any details of the investigation due to our security practices.

To help keep the investigation organized, we'd like to keep the focus of the ticket on this report. If you have any other questions, please feel free to open another ticket. Thank you!

I'm not sure I understand what you mean, but I assure you that it is not pointless to report players who are using scripts. Your reports actually help us clean up the community by stopping these cheater much more quickly. If this is not what you are referring to, please let me know. Thanks again for your help!

I have been assured that it's not pointless to report players using scripts. This sentence is contradictory because none of the players I've reported for scripting have been punished. I know what scripting is. I've tested them, I've observed people I know are scripting because they've told me, and I'm sure the players I report are scripting. Moving on.

The few times that I've reported scripters with video evidence and the works, I'm told that I'm not allowed to know if they receive any punishment. I usually look them up a few weeks later to see that they're still playing games and ruining the fun for other people.

I was just requesting I be updated with the decision regardless of if it's punishment or not.

It's something I really miss about the tribunal.

He then closed the case and I had to open a new one... Frustrating, but still understandable, as I haven't really had a chance to say anything important regarding the case. I waited.

I waited an entire month before bothering support with this case again. I watched as the player continued to ruin games for other players and had to open another ticket.

Title: Scripter Still Not Banned

Subject: Hi.

I reported a scripter a month ago for blatantly abusing the game and he's still not banned or punished in any way. Do you care.

His name was REDACTED, it's now REDACTED.

I'm going to keep submitting tickets about this player until you tell me why they haven't been banned. I don't care about "prvacy" in the investigation. I brought you the case.

I'm now upset with how the case has been handled, as they assured me I was speeding up the process.

There's no reason to post the reply to this ticket, as I said, they're all the same. It's the same reply I received on the first ticket.

My second message on the ticket was simply:

please read my message thanks

After not receiving a response for 24 hours I bumped the ticket again.

If you could redirect me to someone that handles these cases instead of someone who hands them over to the people that handle the cases I'd be greatly appreciative.

The next day, after bumping the ticket again, I was greeted by a new support staff.

We have a Player Behavior team in place dedicated to working with these requests, so I need to transfer your ticket. A Player Behavior Specialist will be contacting you as soon as they can.

That evening the ticket was updated again by another support staff.

I'm Riot Sonata, and I deal with cases like these! Unfortunately, what our other agents have told you is true. We are unable to provide personal information or status of another player's account to other players. This does not mean that we have not issued an appropriate punishment, as the punishment might not be a permanent suspension. In the same case, we have systems in place to catch players that abuse the system through illegal programs that give them an unfair advantage. Please rest assured that we are constantly investigating suspicious accounts to make sure that the competitive integrity of our game stays in tact. It may be difficult for you to correctly identify if a player is making use of scripts, whereas we can tell with certainty on our end.

This pissed me off, and I replied as such:

I really didn't want to have to do your work for you, but I'm sure by your reply that nothing is being done in this case. It's been over a month and I know for a fact the player has received no punishment of any kind. I've attack FOUR VIDEOS showcasing BLATANT scripting to dodge skillshots. I'm not even going to bother going through and highlighting her broken QE combo that she failed the exact same way everytime or how she WQd perfectly every time -- I don't care about that, just the dodging, really. If these four videos do not 100% convince you that this player is using a script then god bless you.

Five. Days. Later. I had received no response. I bumped the ticket with:

I received my final response today.

None of those videos can prove that she's scripting. A lot of the cases she has vision of where you are (there might be wards as well), allowing her to juke/position before you use your skill shot. As someone who was challenger back in the day, I've also been accused of scripting (of which I never used). I reassure you that we have systems in place to catch players who are scripting. Our systems may take a while to punish cheaters as we want to make sure that there are no false positives so that we don't accidentally punish innocent players.

Again, I thank you for your concern, but please trust us to handle this situation properly! As such, I will be closing this ticket. Keep in mind that there are highly skilled players out there!

My videos showcase the player grinding walls to dodge multiple skillshots, having his mouse in two places at once, repeated failed QE combos, dodging skillshots through fog of war -- they show everything. The ticket was closed.

I was pissed. I opened a new ticket with this:

Hello again. I'm not sure if Sonata will be reading this at first.

I thank you for your time in messaging me about how good the player is.

I was so upset with how you've handled every person I report that I went ahead and added a few of them to ask them if they've received punishment or anything.

When I added REDACTED, I linked him the video and asked if he remembered back then and asked if he had any punishment for using scripts. He said he got a 2 week ban for "Verbal Abuse" and when he asked for chat logs, he wasn't allowed to see them.

He admitted to using scripts to me and that's when I decided you as a team do not care.

I've been reporting people like this for years and the only one that got banned is because he abused the store and tried to steal.

I don't give a fuck if you do anything about this case anymore. Just know that I as a player have 100% lost faith in you, and I will no longer defend you when players call you out on not caring. You can say what you want, and ban random players that nobody reports.

I used to think it was different; that you had a special way of doing things. You don't, and that's obvious.

This is the last support ticket I'll be sending to report a player abusing the system to you.

Shame on you for having this in place only to do absolutely nothing about it. You've wasted my time and the time of every player in every game that player is in where he exploits the game.

I'd like to close this long, long post by reiterating what I said to Riot Support. The player admitted to using scripts and did not care that he was ruining other people's games. I said to him, "I see you've taken it out of the lane and into the jungle lol." to which he replied, "hehe ^-^"

I'm going to make a very general statement here and say any case you report to Riot will have the exact same outcome. Every time. Once again, if I'm allowed, I will link videos that include the players old name. It's easy to find the new summoner name through various means.

This post is also an open discussion with Riot Support. If they have anything to say, please comment. I can't reply to the ticket as it's closed, so there's not really a reason for anyone to say send a support ticket if I want to talk to Riot.
