Hey I really need help, I'm going to be a college freshman from next fall and I need help choosing a laptop. I need it to be good enough to do my normal school stuff AND gaming. The games I play are league, COD, and Battlefield, so what laptop do you think could work for me? I was thinking about getting a macbook...
fyi - I am a college professor and teach technology courses. I recommend computers for students all the time. If you get a mac thats fine, it will last you the 4 years but there are classes that will run software that you cannot use. Heck even when I teach PowerPoint the students with Macs have trouble because its so much different on the Mac. I recommend macs to the student that doesnt game and doesnt know anything about comps.
How to pick a laptop:
Step 1: Decide your price range.
Step 2: Check how much data storage you're using currently on your laptop, you most won't need much more than that.
Step 3: Decide how important portability is to you. (ie, pick a maximum weight).
Step 4: Google "laptop search". You'll get a lot of results, Amazon, laptopmag, newegg, cnet, etc.
Step 5: Search for a laptop within your weight+price range with at least 8gb ram and at least as much storage as you currently have on all of those websites. Further filter it to within the past year.
Honestly, if you have a dedicated graphics card you are probably fine.
