I just don't understand

First time playing Xerath midlane as a champion for... well, quite a while it seems. Few months, 8, maybe?

Join a game... everything is going smooth, against a decent counter Zed with a Fiddlesticks who would gank at the right times, along with a roaming Irelia. I screw up bot lane, got pulled by a Blitz and was killed. No problem, Draven gets mad a little, I brush it off.

I go, I think 2/6/5? Second to least deaths on the team. I'm trying to do what I can, you know? Stunning when I can, landing almost all of my Q's and W's (which surprised me), and my ulti to grant vision on drag when we were defending.

There's not much I can do when the opposing team is fed. But why is it okay for the Alistar, Draven, and Yasuo of my team to call me r%%%%%ed? Stupid? Physically and mentally challenged? I don't get it. Everyone has rough spots with a champion, but the abuse in League lately is just so strong.

Sure, and then they say at the post-game screen "report xerath verbal abuse". I defended myself, did I curse at them? Nah, they weren't worth it. Did I curse at the end? Yeah, I called the alistar an a**hole. It's just.. I don't get it. Why are people so toxic, they can't even just let someone be when it's their first time with a champion?

People (the league community specifically) Suck. Without a doubt, league has the absolute worst community I've ever seen, but I absolutely love the game. You just gotta /muteall. That or just make it fun, without retaliating. Just brush off what they say and mute them. Not worth your time honestly.

Its so weird... You go to the Boards or Reddit and you get a ton of really nice people who play league. Very helpful and funny, not toxic, open-minded, etc. Then you get on the actual game and its like every mean and toxic person in the world is playing League... I just dont understand either. I have had great conversations and interactions with people on the forums, then i get in game and every mean thing ever said is being yelled at me because i missed a skill shot.... Baffling really...

It just sounds like they just decided to look for something to blame for the loss. Someone decided you got the short straw and everyone else just piled on. It happens; I've gotten results of the game so far blamed on me because I attracted their attention due to the small amount of tangible details they could notice. E.g. I've gotten blamed for not playing champs the way they are supposed to be played (meta) by going Mundo Jungle or Annie Mid. People who don't know things latch onto the little things they can perceive tightly. It's why really bad players make such noise about how many kills they have, ignoring their deaths and so forth.

It didn't really matter much how you actually performed; just like it didn't matter that I was actually doing alright with Annie. The reason I lost that game was "We lost because you took a support mid".
