East Coast Player Strike

For everyone reading this post, I do not have anything against riot. Riot is a great company, well-profited too. But as an east coast player, I'm outraged. I know it has only been a couple of days with the new servers, but the posts Riot made for all of this new server talk is bullshit. You silver spooned us with nonsense while we kept our pacifiers in. And now look at you, already having to make an emergency maintenance. Riot, do you seriously think these new servers are going to change anything? Yes you might stop DDoS attacks, but that will always be a problem in the future. It will never fully stop attacks on your servers. I still randomly dc from matches, and my ping still stands between 120-150. All I can expect from these "new servers" for the next couple months, will stand the same. You all will have loads of problems, and a huge % of your players will be furious. I understand fully that it's hard work, and it isn't something most people can even grasp within their lifetime. But you told us these servers should fix problems, and they really aren't changing anything. So, from here on, I refuse to buy rp. It isn't just me, anyone who plays your game in my school will not buy either. If you are reading this and you agree with me then don't buy rp. Until I am satisfied with how you treat your community as a whole, Riot, I will continue to spread this school to school.

Okay first off, You obviously did not read anything the Red Posts said. They said that this new Server rollout would be done in three stages. Each taking a few months to separately finish.

  1. Hardware maintenance - Replace old server parts with new ones, add more server space.

  2. ISP configuration- Figuring out a manageable way to increase the bandwidth for the LoL servers so more people can play at the same time with less lag.

  3. Server spreading- They have plans on moving/adding more servers spread out across the US and primarily the east coast for better Ping.

I will now explain why you and everyone else on the east coast has bad ping on LoL.

The distance your internet signals have to travel to make it all the way to California is much greater than somebody on the west coast for example. So each time your computer tries to communicate to their servers (Ping them) it takes more time to receive and send back.

Riot has been making an active effort to make their game more reliable and enjoyable on the east coast as fast as possible. It takes A LOT of time and money to move and buy new servers and Internet for all of them. Worlds just ended, so they now have a lot more free time to be worrying about the east coast.

in regards to you saying that the NA servers have been down and not working, think about the fact that they just installed all new gear into all of their servers and there are probably a few settings or codework that they had to figure out in order to make the servers compatible.

I would expect you to have better ping and connection in the coming months.

Sincerely, Someone who hates people who blame Riot Games for not trying hard enough
