Toxic players and how to handle them

I'm reaching the end of my rope here, I just had to leave a match because of the attitude of the players in it. I generally try to gut my way through it, and I know there's always the mute option, but that won't stop the spam pings or genuine selfish playing of these toxic players and leaving because of it will probably get me in more trouble than the other players in that match. Is there any way of dealing with it that I've overlooked?

  1. Mute. At the first sign of toxicity beyond what you're comfortable with, mute whoever it is. Don't tell them, don't talk about it, don't share with the rest of your team. Just shut them out.

  2. Distract yourself. Focus on your play - you've got a lane/jungle to deal with, and it needs your attention. Keep up with your map awareness. Among other things, this will help you still work with the rant-y toxic player, even though you aren't listening to him. Which should dissuade him from ping-spamming and the like.

  3. Control your input. If all else fails and he's still being disruptive - spamming pings/emotes or the like - turn down your game's sound. Put on some music to help drown it out - something you enjoy listening to that isn't "angry music."

  4. Report them. Beyond helping to minimize their ability to affect others later on, reporting offers a sense of validation. If you feel that the behavior wouldn't be blatant or clear in logs (ping/emote spamming, for example), write a note about it. Try to be clear and professional about it by describing what the player was doing, rather than how it affected you.

  5. Take a break. After any game that frustrates you, take some time away from League. I usually recommend about 5-10 minutes - time enough to have a snack, stretch, get a drink, whatever. Distancing yourself from those experiences in this way will help you approach your next game with a clear head, instead of bringing that baggage with you. If that isn't enough time, extend it. Find what works for you.

All of this is simply my opinion, but I find that it works pretty well for me. Hopefully, some of it will help you as well.

I've never seen a player go from 0 to Extreme Toxicity immediately. Typically there's an event that causes it, what are you doing to help support your team mates?

Wow thnks ur a life saver its anoying as hell when your playing normals cause your stil practising your having a bad game and somewhat feed a bit

than have your team mate tell you to unstal and ask for reports the rest of the game i mean your really trying and got outplayed sadly enough 4 times in a row but its far from purposely feeding...

it gets so anoying to the point where youd wanna act like you give them a gank but than dance instead of help whem they go al in or just quit but this would actualy get you deserved reports

and explaining them your not an lcs player and are stil practising just to let them say go play bots... like they dont ever mess up
