Demotion Rant

I don't understand the demotion system. I get demoted after one game at 0 lp, after getting consecutive S's in a losing effort due to an overzealous Hecarim. I usually get S's or A's, and I still only get 13 or 14 lp and I get -26 when I drop a game no matter my score. A Yi in my earlier game went 1/12/7 and got 29 lp when I got 13, and it just feelsbadman. Riot needs to fix how mmr is tracked, silver just feels like a crapshoot for this sole reason. Too many variables to realistically climb with, and the odds/clamps get stacked against you right after you get three games with an MF support that swears they "Can carry this game". End rant

Rating doesn't matter one bit when it comes to anything other than earning tokens for hextech crafting. Nobody gives a shit if you get s+ every game. Only thing that matters for the ladder is winning. People don't get super bowl rings for being MVP.

You also don't get a big fat paycheck if you're a scrub on a winning team, but that happens here often

Like hell you dont. Minimum salary is still more than most people earn

okay, but proportionately to someone like Julio Jones or Aaron Rodgers they're making a sliver of what that is

Lol I understand that, but if mmr is solely based on winning and losing that's a somewhat flawed system

and a pretty lazy one while we're at it. If they wanna give out grades, then you can obviously calculate someone's skill

No, MMR is the ladder of how well you understand the game, it can take into acct warding, TP timing, location, ability effectiveness, damage dealt in each teamfight, ect. It goes a bit deeper than just win or lose. Grades however are given based on the role you played your champion in, and how well you preformed that role with said champion compared to others in your elo. NOT against all players in general. Its actually extremely easy to abuse the system. If you know what the algorithm looks for. [slayer-jinx-wink]

I disagree with that. I get anywhere from B+ to S (usually) when I supp (what I main - terrible decision in Bronze, I know), but still get SHIT MMR rating. So it's safest just to say NO ONE KNOWS how MMR really works. And Riot's always been okay with that. It's just some biased and arbitrary number that somehow calculates if you are worthy enough to advance.

I totally get what this guy is saying, because it has happened to me SEVERAL TIMES - this season and past - where I'm up for a promo and have been on a great win streak or fast-paced and generally uphill climb only to be saddled with people who DON'T KNOW WTF THEY ARE DOING. It is the MOST AGGRAVATING THING EVER and why I straight up quit Ranked two seasons in a row. They (Riot) obviously have not made any priority or headway into repairing this broken MMR system.

I was referring to abusing the grading system. Not MMR. i showed off some of what MMR can look for but not exactly how important it is to climbing ELO. the algorithm i was talking about is how easy it is to get S ratings. and that just because you get that "S" does not mean you are a good player. you just play in a way that is better than what the "average" player will do.
