Think about how the veterans feel.

I played 3 matches today.

Match 1, I played with a team that included a pair of spanish-speaking players running Lux and Gangplank. They called bot, and proceeded to feed the enemy team the entire match while spamming "jajajajajajajajaja".

Match 2, I took top with someone running Gnar named "420SenpaiBlazer". He proceeded to talk trash to me and the enemy team the entire game, producing such gems as "omg lelel fggts go back 2 cod bruh". After getting tired of his crap, I told him I was muting him and did. I had been going 6/3 and he 1/2 -- after knowing I'd muted him, he began to rush the enemy and set himself up to be double-teamed. By the end of the match, 420SenpaiBlazer went 1/13 and I went 7/9 as I foolishly attempted to fight the well-fed Trydnamere he'd produced. In the postgame lobby, I begged the other team to report our Gnar, but a player named Zenith laughed at me and repeatedly spammed "LOL KAYLE DESERVED IT", drowning out my attempts to be heard.

Match 3, I found that Zenith and 420SenpaiBlazer were on the same team against me (naturally capslocking trash talk into the /all chat at me the entire game) -- I wanted payback, but wasn't about to suicide myself for it. I ran top again, and came up against Zenith (this time playing Gnar) and some guy playing Darius. My lanemate, Xin Zhao, decided halfway to the top lane that he wanted to jungle. Fine, right? Okay. I let him do his thing, holding top against 2 enemies as best I could as Irelia, a character I'm not very familiar with. After a while, I called out for a gank in top to "Derpencio", the Xin Zhao player.

He responded with "OMFG LOL STUPID BITCH JAJAJAJAJA". We lost that match too, at a 4/0 vote to surrender.

This is not an exception, this is the norm when I try to enjoy a game of League. I've come to realize that there is simply no fun to be had in a game that requires silver or gold ranking simply to be playable. I would have to grind for another 15 levels just to unlock ranked matches, and frankly the amount of hatred and frustration that I'd accumulate during that leveling would not be worth it to me.

Riot Games claims to care about creating a good player environment, but they're liars and fools. The Tribunal system is broken and worthless, the only surefire way to get someone banned is to have your whole team report them -- which never happens, because your team is usually more interested in eating turret bolts and fucking each other than actually moving as a unit... or even communicating with each other.

I've come to realize that because League punishes me for leaving, I'm forced to stay in unwinnable games where my teammates refuse to surrender despite our team being 12 to 45 with one person AFK and another person refusing to leave the jungle and help the team. I've also come to understand that the game itself, while fun, does not redeem the sheer amount of unpleasantness that I am forced to endure simply so I can have a good time. No pentakill is worth feeling so full of anger and frustration that you fear to break your laptop as you furiously jab at command keys. No victory justifies such a hellish player community. No amount of enjoyment could possibly outweigh the sheer amount of bullshit that Riot Games makes me put up with.

So I'm uninstalling League of Legends as I write this. I'm done. You win, trolls. I'm finished trying to enjoy a game that punishes me for playing.

It breaks my heart, but I have to admit to myself that League stopped being fun months ago.

A little something I found on a comment section on youtube.

This is how I feel when I'm paired with the new generation of league players riot. The selfish ones who only care about themselves instead of the team doing well and winning.

Why don't you fix it? Or is it like your servers and that would cost too much money/time so why bother when Esports is easier to make money off of...right?

I find really hakward how ppl like this ain't perma banned just because of the gaming experience they give to others.

I myself have been toxic but nothing even close to this kind of BS. My max is leave a match after it's declared that is not going to be enjoyable but ppl refuse to make things better. Despicable I know, 4vs5 is never good. But I accept the incoming punishement.

These ppl though seems to be everywhere everytime, so this either has to be:

  • They don't get punished at all, gotta love the system that we have
  • They are so many that even banning them makes no difference

This is what makes this game horrible, the "other" factor is decisive EVEN for the enviroment in which you play and this is because 1intentional feeder or really bad player decides a match while an overly-good or far better player can just sit and eat popcorn.

i know where you're at mentally because i was there as a SC2 player. i ended up quitting the game completely after ranting for months on the forums about aspects of the game that they refused to fix.

as someone who's been there before, my advice for you is this: if you enjoy playing league and you don't want to lose that forever, you need to do your best to stop taking it seriously. maybe take some time to enjoy some of the less competitive modes like ARAM and dominion, and only play summoners rift when you can queue with people you've friended before that you know won't be toxic.

i know this sounds extreme, and probably a bit trite, but the first step is honestly accepting that this is just a game, and if you aren't having fun then you shouldn't be playing it. if you can't find a way to enjoy yourself despite this game's shortcomings, your best bet may be to just start over with another franchise.

again, believe me when I say that I know where you're coming from. I would link you to the hundreds of posts I made on the SC2 forums, but I raged so hard and passionately that they eventually banned me and deleted everything. I started over by quitting sc2 completely, boycotting blizzard for the most part, and just playing league in january. i've taken a vastly different approach to this game from sc2 and it's really turned out well for me. i've branched out to several games that i enjoy rather than just one and i'm a happier person for it. maybe we're just completely different people and this advice won't work for you, but i do recommend that you try it.

The Tribunal system is broken and worthless

Well, it is broken. That's why it was taken down some months back.

the only surefire way to get someone banned is to have your whole team report them

This actually doesn't do anything more than just reporting by yourself. The report system cares more about reported games than the number of reports per game when building cases. So, one report has no less weight than 9 reports when it comes to building a case.

It's my understanding that esports actually costs Riot more money than it brings in directly. The increased awareness and influx of new players because of esports is where the benefit is there.

But I suspect none of that's relevant to you. Which is okay. I wish you good luck with whatever you move on to do.
