What do you need to do to get to Diamond 1 ?
Ok so I'm currently Diamond 4 and I can't seem to get to diamond 1 for some unknown reason. What should I do to improve ? Is there a big skill difference between these ranks ?

You need to be a God. I've read in multiple areas that the skill difference between Diamond 1 and Diamond V is the same as Diamond V to Silver V to put it into perspective.
The disparity is not as great as that but diamond 1 is fairly easy to get into but climbing high in diamond 1 is where the hard part is im unsure if this season it is easier but when i was diamond 1 last seasons every 20 lp in diamond one was like a whole different tier
Ever since the addition of master tier the disparity between d1 and high d1 or even d1 and d5 has diminished to some degree. Some things that might be helpful:
Voice chat. Use it. Team speak, vent, skype are the golden trio.
Fill more often. Let other players play the roles they are best at more often.
Work on your mechanics every day. You should spend at least 45 minutes working on laning or team fighting mechanics for every 45 you spend on SR.
Start watching the patch notes more closely and while you shouldn't become a fotm player, you should at least be adequate with top tier meta picks in favorable matchups.
Team comp synergy, the higher you climb the more important this is. A lot of games at this level are won or last because of picks and bans.
