Am I alone in firmly believing that smurf ruin normals for people trying to get to 30 and that they should be refused access to queue up with said summoners

Probably, yes. There will be smurfs on both teams. The problem is the ones who were banned for being toxic %%%%s coming down and being even bigger toxic %%%%s when things aren't like they were at 30. You would be surprised how easy it is to beat out a smurf simply because they over estimated the damage they could do without runes and masteries. You would also be surprised at how much of the player base down there is smurfs, or would you enjoy a 5 minute queue time?

In every game out there, there will be smurfs. Take it as a chance to learn, watch what they do and use it to improve your own experiance on the way to 30. Back when I played in s1, there weren't many smrufs in the leveling process because the game was so new, and when I got to 30, I had only fought other noobs. I was in for a very rude awakening.

I smurf for the enjoyment of RPing my way though the game as a single champion. I have 3 smurfs. One for ryze, one for TF and one for Poppy and i take a different roleplay personality for each.

Besides the majority of those smurfs are taking the first steps to getting back to bronze, for the second or third time. So they are not good by any means. If you run into high skilled smurfs... well you just won the scratcher today.

Beat those smurfs and take pride in beating out someone who has been playing for longer than you have.

New players will get matched with smurfs for a while, but after a couple of games they will get matched with players in there skill group

Realize that this is an introduction into League and it is preparing you for what you will find on the other side of thirty:

Always being paired with other player who's skill level is nowhere near, next to, or anywhere around your own.

The good news about smurfs is that they rarely have the patience to soldier through to 30 on their smurf accounts. So they become less and less prevalent as you level higher up. I am a smurf but I am playing on a champion who is so weak and under powered that in many cases new players at least have a chance of defeating me. That and I relegate myself to support where often times my ADC is a newbie and I help them have a good experience in the game. Especially if they are Ezreal. Isn't that nice of me?
