Gold border champion tab

When I go to my profile and go to my champions tab, some of my champions have a gold border around them, What does this mean?

You've achieved rank s- - s+ and have received your chest as a reward.

Correction: It just means you've earned your Chest reward for that champion. You could have earned a D if you were playing that champion when someone in your party got an S.

Yep, that is exactly what happened to me with my getting "golden boxed" I had like a B or A rank but my friend got an S rank on Evelynn that game so it counted as a chest on Malzahar for me.

It means you've earned your box for the season on them already.

Not true because I have S on a lot of my favorite champions but no gold border. All of the champions with the gold border have a gold chest on the lower right when you highlight the champion. Every other champion with a non-gold border has a silver chest in the lower right when you highlight the champion.
