A concern on Jinx

xTwoPointOx··3 votes·2,540 views

I like Jinx, Riot, I like the idea of having two weapons, rockets flying everywhere, aoe dmg rockets, machine guns, speed, effective if you ask me... but don't you think its too effective? No offense intended with this however every match I play now has a Jinx in it, and Every match I play, she is op with just a few items. the last match I had, she obtained: The BloodThirster, Infinity Edge, Berserker Greaves and another low cost Item that I don't remember. she was killing enemy champs as if they were lvl 1 with no items near the end game. her aoe dmg took a quarter of their life with each hit if not more. her speed boost she gets after getting excited is way to fast to where she can run between the nexus turrets get the kills that were trying to return to base and get out with only being hurt a little, huge disadvantage to the balance of defense. I don't want to bash her as I think she could be a huge help in team fights. but when she can get an ace in a few seconds against all of the opposing team at full health it isn't exactly fair at all. I'm glad you're making new champs and keeping it exciting for all. But I would really hope you consider revamping Jinx in the near future. I would also like to say I don't want any negative criticism, to those of you who like her the way she is, great. I hope you continue to like her. however, to me? It seems to be an imbalance to team fights when one person can defeat your whole team in no time at all that normally could only happen in a game that lasted over an hour, had all their items to where they became a force you needed a team gank for or was fed from mistakes early on. this is my way of expressing a concern I believe to be a imbalance. Positive criticism would be greatly appreciated as I don't want everyone to think i'm throwing something away, I'm simply wanting to help improve and make something better for all.

Im not a designer or even that good at the game, so take it for what it's worth here but I personally have had trouble with her due to lack of escapes and being very squishy. As someone who mains ADC, I find the utility of Vayne, Ezreal, Graves, etc... to be a huge advantage that Jinx doesn't really have. Not to say she is not good, but my experience in Solo Queue is that she relies on having a strong team with her that can peel and protect.

What do you think?

I only played Jinx for one match but I can say that Fishbone's range is INSANE. A rank 5 fishbones can safely attack dragon from the backwall (Same goes for baron), meaning Jinx can be safely away should the team try to engage on her. She's in the trifecta (Now a trifecta anyways) of champions who can compete with long range heroes.

Also her zap is not nearly slow enough. Granted I like that it shows the line of target but to say that it's easy to dodge is kinda false. It's pretty fast for a projectile.

I think her zap is perfect where it's at. The slow is very strong for a bursty ADC and the margin of error requires ninja mode precision. Very good with hard CC supports like Leona and Zyra.

I main support so I can't give a whole lot of insight, but I have played either with or against her in every match since her release. She seems to be a hypercarry that gets out of control very quickly. Slowing down her early game would be my only opinion on her. If an opposing team leaves lane for ANY amount of time, she can quickly push to it and put heavy damage on it. If she CAN destroy it, it's going down and she's getting away clean.

I've mained supports, and I have played Jinx. Pre-6 her CC rivals Leona's. Her zap's projectile speed is too fast, and IMO does a bit too much damage. Rank 5 you might as well be tossing a fast nid spear with 40% slow. Even though the ground graphic shows its path, going to lux range (behind a wall) means you can toss your slow and rockets over it, while using your snare and minigun if they get too close. I feel like the only thing even holding her lane slightly in line would be the low base AS and mana pool, which late game both become kinda irrelevant.

If Her strength is ultra long range, that is k. If its tons of damage at Long range, I could see that being fine too. But long range, that has a powerful, hard to miss slow/nuke, a wall of snare, and Tons of damage, she might be a bit over the top. Not to mention that she only needs a single kill, or a few assists, to really start getting crazy.

I feel like she is an ADC version of lux. No mobility, but it really doesn't matter that much due to your long range and ability to self peel like crazy. When you factor in that ADC's have more MS itemization than lux, and no reliance on mana to do damage, then you start to realize how stupid that gets.

Other examples of champions who can attack baron/dragon over the wall are:

  1. Cait

  2. Trist

  3. Kog

I don't see a problem here. She gets the range in exchange for low attack speed. To get the attack speed you need to be in very close range to aa and then switch.

I've only played her once match, and did pretty well.. I think her slow makes up for most of her lack of mobility.

I agree with this. Any assassin that did OK in lane should be able to destroy Jinx. And if you have a double dive team, or worse a triple dive, Jinx is in a very bad place.

Plus she only came out, people still don't know what exactly to do with and against her.

I think the OP posts are coming out way too early.

I feel that basically all adc's impact late game/teamfights heavily no matter who.

Ok i would like to say some things. Firstly i agree with JetDry. Her W is not that OP. it does a lot of damage and slows and reveals, BUT it is hard to hit against good players. Maybe at lower Elos it iseasy to hit, but trying to hit say a pro player with it would be really hard as it is VERY easy to juke unless you are stuck or in a position where you CANNOT dodge it. Addressing the fact that it moves fast for a projectile. It is supposed to be fast because she has to channel and you can see the projectile track. By that argument you could say Xerath Q is unfair projectile speed. Xeraths Q is actually easier to hit and if you have played league for a while you have seen a lot of people juke that. Xeraths Q is faster travel speed (instant) is a wider hit track and peirces. and does about the same amount of damage late game as Jinx's does. Also the fact that the fishbones can take out a quarter of their healthbis because it can crit on the bonus damage from the effect so building crit chance is very powerful on jnx. But shut her down early and she slows down. Just get acouple early ganks and dont leave your lane alone. She also does not have any movement/escape moves besides her passive which requires a kill or assist. CC and slows still work on her. She is kinda crap by herself and needs a strong team as well as smart positioning. I have personally gottencrushed in lane because of early set backs or weak teams/DCes. Another thing to consider is that one of the reasons people are not doing so well against her now is because no one has ever gone against her before so no one is used to playing against her or how to counter her. Also i can tell you ezreal and varus counter her pretty well.

That may be the issue, to counterplay her you need to land skill shots.

Experienced players have no issue with that but less experience and less skilled players will.

At level 18 Tristana will out range Jinx so that may be the best option for those than can't land the skillshots to push her out of mid game team fights.

I think Jinx needs some nerfs. She has a fairly strong early game, and if you give her so much as two kills, she'll snowball her way to victory. I'm not even in ranked yet, so I guess that my thoughts might not be accurate, but at the moment, giving up anything to Jinx will give her an enormous lead. If she out farms you, she'll go pick up some typical ADC items and bully you until she gets the kill. At which point, she'll continue feeding off of you.

I understand that this might be because counterplay isn't something people do before they hit level 30, but that's the issue. If you don't know how to counterbuild, you're done. It's Jinx's game. Because all she needs to do once she gets even a little bit ahead is stay back and wait to catch people out. Which is common at my level. She may be balanced if people know how to play against her, but she'll dominate otherwise.

I don't know how you could possibly nerf her, but all I know is that she needs to not snowball so hard.

Almost every game if played with or against a jinx and I've only seen one not so good one, who you could tell needed experience, and she carried her team with just a few items. I even saw a jinx in the jungle and all she had was a vampiric scepter and a doran's blade and she wasnt losing any health in the jungle. And after just one or two kills she would snowball really hard. Thats all i basically think.

LxLegend2 votes

Any ADC with life steal quints can go into the jungle with just a vamp scepter + doran's blade and not lose health. That's not unique to Jinx.

This is only happening because she is new and people don't know how to counterplay effecttively yet. She lacks escapes, if the team focus on champions with a close gap hability or hooks, she won't be good.

Beñny1 votes

Since she relatively new, people won't know how to counter her just yet, her weak points, etc. She does lack an escape which mean if you get in her face or cc her, she'll have to either die, or die fighting. That's what I've learned so far playing against her.

Thank you all for the comments, I've read them all and I appreciate how none of you were rash with your replies. I know its a little early on for "OP" Comments Freezman13, however This Community Beta is a place to express opinions and insight. I see nothing wrong with expressing my opinions on a new champion, like many have said, is new and not many know how to counter yet. Here, we can talk about how she can "Snowball" and how to counter, and in my opinion, hopefully find ways to help improve her overall. That is all i'm doing here whether others agree or disagree. I wanted to say more, however I think at this point perhaps i'll refrain. its not worth trying to discuss ways to improve something that just came out without test driving yet. perhaps I was to early to jump the gun with my ideas. but I guess I'll let time tell this one and see what happens. Happy playing all. and thank you for reading.

I've found that Jinx is really, really easy to counter play. The only thing is that you just have to dodge her Zap. It's almost like complaining about Nidalee because you never dodge her spear. I've played a few games with her and as her and I've found that people who know how to position in lane win against her. Zap is insanely hard to hit if the opposing ADC is behind minions or paying attention to the game in any way.

Her lack of mobility at the beginnings of teamfights is very easy to punish with well placed skillshots/initiates. I agree that the criticals on her rockets are fairly hefty, but she does hit less often with rockets activated.

I'd say she does exactly what Riot wanted her to do. Be another champion you had to actually think about counterplaying. Someone who you don't just use the same counterplay formula on and actually have to play the game slightly differently because of.

She doesnt need to be fixed my thoughts

The thing that I find needs a little bit of tweaking is the zap. Either a slower projectile, longer cast time, shorter range, or reduced AD ratio would be very welcome. Right now, if the Jinx maxes it first, it hits like a truck and has a very long range.
