Getting a free skin through playing?

So I have a question, since a sort of a confusing thing happened to me on my EUNE acc. I got a Shen skin (TPA S2) and I have no idea what triggered that. I mean, I played Shen a lot back at the time and did well with him. Does anyone have any idea about what that was about?

Toward the beginning of the year Riot handed out mystery skins for people who haven't been banned/chat restricted this past year.

You can gift skins at the game recap after a game. Someone one must of found you good with Shen and gave you that.
