I ended last season as Silver 3. During the preseason I was trying lots of different champs and ended at Season 5, but I wasn't really worried about it because it was preseason. I just finished my placement matches and won 7, lost 3. Now I am place in Bronze 5!!! WTF!!!??? Look at this graph off of lolking. How did I drop so far by going 7/3 in placements??? Doesn't make sense. Can anyone explain this?

Preseason effects your MMR. The only reason it 'doesnt matter' if because if you don't play it at all you don't receive decay which someone in high elo would. If you played ranked in pre-season and tanked a bunch of games your MMR lowers.

You didn't. You dropped down to S5 in preseason and you can't get kicked from S5 to B1 unless you have a B5 MMR pretty much so the whole time you were messing around in preseason you were pretty much screwing yourself (and anybody you were in games with who were legitimately trying to raise their MMR for Season 5) over so that when you went into placements it was trying to pair you with low bronze enemies.
And here is this to show 10 games played going 7/3 and being placed in B3. So pissed right now.
Lol.....you know what's worse? starting in b5 last season like i should have. working my ass off for months to get to silver placements and lose it. Placements put me back down in B3, I immediately get to B2 promos and go 1/11 of my next games because I get placed with the WORST teams in history. Carry or not.......My Jinx was a 60% win rate last season, now I've started out at 0/3 with her. Everyone trying to break meta champs or playing HORRIBLE with ones they never have. I'm so pissed off. I've raged a few games and am probably looking at a ban but at this point Riot can go take one up their buttholes. I've had 3 bans before, the first one well deserved. But they can seriously take a fat one up their backside with this placement and putting me with these toxic, afk, feeding pieces of shit every....single.....game.....I feel you bro. And anyone posting "this is the reason" bullshit can go suck one. I'm pissed off cause I've played and lost 3 games today. So kiss it.
