LoL Replay not recording in spec mode

I know this isn't the place for LoL replay stuff but the forum on their site has been down for a few months so i'm going here. My problem is that with LoL Replay you can only watch replays in Specmode, and even though I have it so it only records specmode, it wont save them that way. The only way i can get them to save in spec mode is if I play a custom game and leave before too long in. I know of the 3 minute period you wait but that doesn't show up after normal games. I've tried redownloading LoL replay, changing directory etc etc. Any ideas would be wonderful
