Did you love the old lore? Do you want to integrate it with the new lore but don't know how you could possibly justify it?

If you answered yes to either of the previous questions have we got the solution for you! Zilean!

Looking t zileans lore, his people were wiped out during the rune wars, what if zilean was messing around with his time magic this whole time trying to prevent the rune war that destroyed his civilization? After years which passed like days to him he finally perfected his methods and rewrote time so that the runewar never happened, and his people never died, and hence, our current lore.

See? Now everyone can be happy.

The war changed, however. J3 wasn't dead in the previous version of the lore.

Could be a different war as well. Demacia and Noxus have always been enemies.

While this sounds interesting, it would mean that Zilean has the potential to rewrite anything. That's just too overpowering. There has to be something to keep him/his power in check from just rewriting all of existence.

Simple, the act of rewriting time made it where he never had motivation to rewrite time, so he never becomes a insanely powerful time re-writer again after the first time.

That is just overly convenient. Just because it went back/rewrote time doesn't mean he loses motivation to do something. There needs to be a reason why he wouldn't do it again and/or loses motivation.

Plot Twist: Zilean Changed Time

Reminds me of Thief of Time, which when it was written was used by the Terry Pratchett to explain the various retcons the Discworld books have had over the course of time. It was brilliant, though.

Well, you could have a plot behind it, an actual reason, but I don't have the time to write a whole lore so, you can use your imagination.
