everyone is entitled to their own beliefs, no point in debating religion cause you can not simply sway ones mind from something they have already convinced themselves into believing. I dont debate religion or politics because it is pointless, and not fun. I'm a christian and many of my friends are atheist and i respect that because not everyone is raised the same or brought up around religion so you just have to learn to respect everyone for who they are. :)

honestly said to be one of the hardest roles, i would like to think so, just because your team relies on your vision, and to set up kills. I could be wrong, but speaking personally, everytime i dont play support, i realize how hard it is for most ppl. Practice makes perfect :)

I seriously can't tell if this is brilliant or not. I had that feeling for a second, like there was something profound in there, and a "Whoa." moment.

Something about finding a primary source of Everything to blame hit a nerve. The innate, human necessity of looking for sense in a profoundly nonsensical Universe. Or, put another way, having someone or something new to blame/thank when something unexpected happens.

the bible is essentially a book of short stories, portrayed as the word of our "creator" used to control the population of its followers in ways that financially and spiritually control them to give their means to God, i.e. the physical church, that is run by people. who use the money to buy things. which if you pay attention to the bible, you know is a direct contradiction of jesus' teachings.

religion fills the unanswerable question of our existence, they cannot accept the fact that we simply are. there is no reason

reason is created in the human mind. things are for no reason. and some would rather lie to themselves than accept the truth.

It's become so much more mainstream to be anti-religious than religious, and I don't understand why. Maybe it's because my family never, ever talked about religion, but it's not even an issue I care about.

But whether you're theist or atheist, I don't care. An overly-enthusiastic atheist is as equally annoying as an equally-hostile theist. I don't have a problem with any of it until it has a problem with me, from either side.

I don't get it, though. Some people are super-adamant about it, and I don't see how it even matters. You're not going to convince anyone one way or the other about a faith-based system (both theism and atheism are faith-based, both are reasonable if you realize neither is personally empirical, one is not more "logical" than the other in a pragmatic sense) to begin with, so why argue something like that?

So, you know, I'm fine with both theism and atheism. Until they start trolling each other about it, in which case I still like going by the "believe what you want if it makes you a cooler person" idea.

You raise a good point and the reason is as follows:

In ancient times science was extremely premature and folks had no way of understanding anything in the universe. Even something elementary like "how are we living" and "why do we breathe" were simply excuses to believe in a higher power called God.

As time went on and science developed, people began realizing that everything has a systematic and logical explanation. We no longer required to develop a God to answer our mysteries about the universe. And so it began:

"How can you not believe in God! Look at all the miracles he has done over history!"

"Ummm, these are just folk tales passed down from your parents. Even they did not experience God and just believed the stories they have heard. Give me one logical explanation of how God exists."

tldr; coming from someone born religious, married a religious woman, and have religious children: I don't believe in God and I think belief in general will get weaker and weaker as time goes on, eventually vanishing from Earth.

That's the thing, though, that bothers me the most about the whole debate. Science (which I don't consider the antithesis to religion and still a belief system, but that's separate) still can't answer any of the big questions, either, so it's not really a better alternative than fabricating an answer. There's no established universal origin or source of reason for anything, and it's still just looking to other people for answers, which doesn't seem any more pragmatic to well-being. And even if you believe whatever you want, it's still listening to one party being more convincing than the other, without really understanding it outside of whatever source convinced you of that side to begin with.

Still seems like picking one side over the other because it sounds more convincing. I'll stay skeptical of both for everyone's sakes.

But science gets better every day right? With each passing moment we understand more and more of why and how things work.

God? Not so much. Always "cause he wanted it to be".
