Good Top Laner to buy?

Hello guys, so I don't know if this is the forums or something. Never been here. Anyways I'm thinking about buying a new top laner and I'm leaning more towards the ranged type ones since they are able to control the lane more especially against melee champions. I am thinking about buying Jayce since he has range and has good poke but is he any good? And I hear Fiora is pretty good but I dont know if I really would do well with a melee type. Any help deciding would be much appreciated. Thank you

irelia, jayce, riven or fiora

i would go with riven, she is incredibly strong, has the best mobility of most top laner and she a good team team fighter.

Maokai is AMAZING if your team needs a tank. Honestly this game is about team composition, you can't win in champion select but you can lose in champion select. If you're looking to ever play ranked 5's or anything I'd suggest learning Maokai, malaphite, jayce, irelia, lissandra, jax, and lulu. Those 7 champions can be fit into specific team compositions that people play and are very strong overall in what they do.

Maokai: Tanking and initiation Malaphite: Tanking and initiation Jayce: Poking Irelia: Split pushing Jax: Split pushing Lissandra: Crowd control and initiation Lulu: Utility

Just my two cents.

I play Riven and Azir in top lane. If I get banned out and we have too much of a damage type then I'll play Shyvana so we have a strong front line.

Can tell you now both those champs take a lot of dedication to play well. The difference between a good player and bad is very substantial. You'll probably lose a lot of games, or at least lanes, learning to play them.

1v1s with Azir can be the most exhilirating moments of your LoL career, especially early on with low CDR when you have to use all your skills intelligently. Teamfighting with Riven is extremely difficult to do properly, but extremely rewarding if you do. Her 1v1 is unstoppably good if she gets ahead at all.

Well let's see, you could learn...

Gnar: Great teamfight if you control his rage bar well, hard to play. Mundo: Very good late game tank, poor early game, falling out of favor because of the popularity of morellnomicon. Riven: Really good damage but is basically a pub stomp champion.

I mean there are plenty of champions you could learn to just play in a pub, champions like: Nasus, vlad, kassadin, rek'sai, fizz, darius, etc... but most of these aren't that great in relation to a strong team composition and they don't do things as well as other champions.

For example Nasus provides good CC, good damage, and very tanky, so why wouldn't I recommend him? Farm, most Nasus' just spend all game afk farming stacks in top lane and if you do that your team loses. Who cares if you can solo 2v1's, it's a team game.

I would def suggest Gnar though, I totally forgot him in my previous post and he is great if played properly. He is a lane bully too.

Riven, Jayce, or Darius? Those are my final three to choose from. It's such a tough choice because raising IP takes so long ahaha

Any other suggestions?

Ok, thanks for the insight. So now I'm basically stuck between Jayce or Riven. I'm really digging the ranged part of Jayce though and I dont know if Riven will just get harassed or not. Any other input?
