Does my placement rank after my promos prove that I actually belong there?

Hey all,

So I've played this game for about 2 years now. At first it was mostly Aram and any fun mode that was available at the time, with a normal game thrown in here and there. I have not touched ranked until just now and have not played normals diligently until a few months ago.

Last year I did just a couple ranked 5v5's with friends who were plat and diamond and apparently impressed them. Especially because they know I mainly played aram and fun modes. They said I could probably make it to gold or better if I tried. That was definitely a confidence boost and very flattering but I didn't let it swell my ego.

With that being said though, I am very competitive. Growing up athletic and playing a multitude of sports has brought out that part of me and it has carried over to my gaming. I'm a try hard, even in fun modes. I am always playing to the best of my capabilities. I notice that in aram and in fun modes that I tend to carry a lot and I'm wondering if that's due to me being a try hard while others are just having fun and not trying or because I have acquired pretty decent skills playing these game types......or I'm just delusional and suffering from the "silver players think they're good" big ego syndrome.

I would say I'm a mid laner by heart but also comfortable with top or jungle. I know just about every champion and how they work. I just finished my promos while maining top lane the whole time and got placed silver 4. I know I can perform my best as mid laner playing fizz, viktor, leblanc, brand, malz, akali, ekko or xerath. I'm also comfortable with talon but not as much as the others. I plan on working on my zed and yasuo game play here in the near future. I won't go as far as to say I have mastered all those champions but thanks to aram and fun modes I have a large pool of champions that I'm very skilled with.

I take competitive play seriously, so I've been doing a lot of studying up on LoL gameplay, specifically for ranked, and what to expect and how to perform in silver or bronze because I knew I would be placed there to start. I read up on elo hell and the biggest mistakes those players make and why they are there. I know exactly what to do and what not to do. From last hitting, to trades, to map awarness, the works. I was reading that if you have no history of ranked, you'll get placed in silver, at best, after your promos. I was also reading up on and noticing that a lot of previous gold and plat players got placed in silver and even bronze this season, after their promos.

So with that unexpectedly long ramble and to whoever actually read all of this, (Thank You!) we reach my main question......Is getting placed in silver 4 this season after my promos, with no previous ranked history, any good? With everything I have said and if it holds true, along with my eagerness to learn more and improve, should I be able to climb to gold or plat? Or do I simply belong in silver 4 until I can prove otherwise?

Thanks again to anyone who reads this. I appreciate any and all constructive feedback.

Generally, you start with approximately Silver 4 MMR when you begin your placement matches without any previous ranked history. As such, you started out pretty even.

I'd say it generally takes about 100 matches to get close to your actual ranking, so keep playing and see how it goes.

I was placed in Silver 3 last season after my placement matches and climbed to Platinum 5 by the time the ranks reset (in 110 matches).

Often it's an eyeball in the park as to where the system believes you are worthy and with LP gains from 10-30 LP you can obtain per wins, the higher means the more likely you haven't reached your 'supposedly' MMR/ELO where you should be. Even there if you win more and more and only obtain 18+ or less the more you win the more you'll likely climb, keeping in mind a postive 50%+ win rate.
