League... Our relationship is... Complicated.

Here is just something I've been thinking of for a while now. This is my very first post. Where oh where to begin. WHY DO I PLAY LEAGUE? League started as a fairly loose team game where a rather small group would play whatever looked cool. That is the only reason league is played: People like to look cool. League is flashy and fast-paced. It's so intense at so many moments, each moment looking super colorful and flashy. When league turned competitive shit got turned all upside down. I mean, it was always competitive on some level, but after a while the "meta" was born... Man.. The "meta" was your friend! He helps you win! Unfortunately it changes the game in every way. Because league was made as it was (flashy, for a lack of words), the champions were all oh so very unique (don't ever get me wrong, this is unique to league and it is amazing!) This, combined with the desired "meta", led to what we have today. League was MADE difficult to balance because of its uniqueness, the positions, champions, items.. There are SOO many aspects that are all unique and all significant. A game like DOTA is easier to balance because most things aren't unique (few exceptions but still has exceptions). I'm pretty much positive league was never meant to be a "competitive game" (meaning based on professional competition). However, the competitive scene was extremely successful because people liked to watch the best of the best be so flashy! SOOO FLASHY!!!! Because of this (I think) riot continued on this path. Thus we have what has been and still is. Hello riven, Leblanc, KASSADIN, yasuo, vel koz, fucking Lee Sin, Azir, Ahri, talon, nidalee, kalista, Ashe/irelia, Akali, twitch, gragas, kha'zix, kayle, ezreal (smite), SION, FUCKING POPPY (the fuck is this shit), fizz, veigar, Annie, like holy shit do I need to go on, mordekaiser, heimerdinger, you getting the point yet, thresh, shen, jax, ryze, FUCKINGGGGG POOPPPYYY, hecarim, you ready for this shit? Bloodthirster, wards doing weird shit, FUCKING DFG, random dodging? Shaco? Buggy-ass Baron? Buggy zac! I know I'm off topic but come on. I could go on and on and on... And on! The point is: league has issues. From released yasuo crap, the invention of irelia cuz Ashe = peel and dumb, kassawin, FUCKING POPPY (makes 0 sense), Lee "the ever-nerfed" Sin etc. to Azir bugs and pre-change sion. Almost everything in this game has issues. They ARE being repaired but when a ridiculous bug or r%%%%%edly op champion or just a r%%%%%ed champion ruins a game by not letting me feel good, man that just sucks. More appalling is the rate at which these things are resolved! (The jungle (never) etc.). Aside from obscene bugs and miss balance, patches are also inherent issues. Whole professional teams can and have slammed rock-bottom or shot to the top because of the whim of a patch/ couple weeks. Cinderhulk, runeglaive, turret/objective changes, split-pusher patches etc. Like, I understand that it's hard to balance/create something without much testing, but just wow.... Like. Some if not most of these issues are quite obvious and ridiculous. Remember that yasuo wind wall that blocked baron and tower shots? Also after those fixes how it blocked (it might still do) rumble ult? The whole thing... Don't get me started on riven kassawin Lee... Fuck I'm doing it again... I enjoy league of legends because when I watch a pro game, and I see (ex:) Faker make an insane play, it FEELS good, it makes me want to play and do those things! League has moments where I look back to when I stole a baron with an ezreal ult without a ward from fountain by counting, and I smile and... Man that shit FEEEELZ good. However, because it's such a split game, because it tries to be two things that hurt each other, league more often has moments where I feel like I should feel good, but don't, because I can't beat a kassawin, because the Baron is on my lane for whatever reason (that bug), because zed's q doesn't do reduced damage from multiple sources, because there are just things in the game that clash by definition, because bugs, because nidalee spear hits me no matter what, because my favorite team is on a patch that hurts them. I understand the flaws. I still hate them. I love what league has to offer even without just some of these flaws, but there are just too many... So much wasn't mentioned that makes these flaws (didn't even get started on the ADC position as a whole). It literally depresses me (not like clinically.. Just sad :/) when I know that I enjoy the shit out of those times I outplay my opponent and other times lose because club penguin has a better chat system or someone afks or the other team has THAT op champion or maybe when I'm shooting a tank with full build as vayne and literally fucking die because thornMail is so stupid. Regardless, league is great and can be the greatest game ever made. Don't even know why I did this any more. I don't even think there is much in the way of fixing these things. I don't even know if it matters! Like I still play the game. Maybe I'm the only one that cares about this stuff. Regardless, anyone that has thoughts as to what they like about league and why or maybe thoughts on what I'm saying, or even just a cool thing about League because honestly I need more reasons to keep playing, post comment etc. away my friends!
