Promo LP loss discussion

So, I was just unsuccessful in completing my promo series and ended up going 0-3 in it and then when i check my points afterword I am at 51. So in your promo series does it count the points you should be losing in your losses? If that is the case then why doesn't it count the points you should be earning in your wins? I've gone plenty 2-0 and 3-0 in plenty of promotion series' before but I never end up with any points after, only 0. Where is the excitement then for going 2-0 or 3-0? You don't get anything out of it.

Note: This is not me being salty about losing a promo either. I don't mind having to win a few to get back into it I just want to know the mind set behind why they are set up this way.
