Wait what? Crafting, mystery chests and key drops after games? Are you sure Riot still owns this game and they didn't sell it to Valve?

looks cool. Can't wait to see how it works on live.
Honestly, all I want are those champs. If I get a skin, I'll be like :). But if I can finally get all those pesky champs that cost a lot then I'll be like :'). But, if I get nothing... :|.
Skins are the big thing from my perspective, since those are the ones you can't earn normally.
It should also really give sets of runes, i.e. open a chest and receive 9x greater seal of health, or 9x greater glyph of CDR, etc.
i know where you're coming from but I just want Rek'Sai, Tahm Kench, and Vel'koz and then I can care about other things. just need to round out my support/jungle pool before another crazy awesome champ comes my way.

Valve secretly brought Riot Games :^)
I have over 100k mastery points on some champions. I can't wait either.
well it does sound great, I have to assume it is going to be extremely difficult to unlock a permanent skin. We've got to remember that Rito is a large company that relies only on RP sales to stay in business. So if it can't be too easy to unlock permanent skins, otherwise no one would buy skins with RP. I can't wait for it either! But I'm setting my expectations extremely low so that I won't get too disappointed :P who knows, maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised ;)
It is hard to tell. Smite offers plenty of way to get stuff for free if you play long enough. It will be interesting to see how Rito handles this.
Riot isn't Smite so they wouldn't care
Cus people who play League love buying anyway
This is true, plus running League of Legends is far more expensive, due to the shear amount of players. I doubt they will give as much for free as Smite, I was just using that as an example that companies have made it possible to get everything for free before.
This looks a lot like Team Fortress 2. That's awesome because that's a great example of a f2p game for Riot to work off of, but I do have a possible issue with it. Please for the love of all that is holy do not make any of the crafting stuff tradable or gift-able.
actually tf2 is a horrible example of a F2p game. I left when they went micro transaction
The way they use micro transactions are a lot better than most F2P games use them. TF2 micro transactions are only for cosmetic items to decorate your character with.
actually you can pay for in game non cosmetics also. The economic ecosystem their blows.
Only other micro transactions I can think of is the weapons. However, in most cases, no weapon is stronger than the other and either used for a certain playstyle, map, or loadout. Even then, weapons are like 50 cents or like 1 scrap. Unless they added something I'm unaware of, the micro transactions are pretty good. Economy does suck ass though.
It's free to play, you get access to all important content for free. More money will not give you any sort of advantage in the game, meaning it's fair for free to play vs paid users. Finally it made money by switching to f2p, meaning it's a sustainable system. How is it not a good example?
It started as a pay game that went f2p. The player base was already there. Also the servers hosted by valve are terrible and to play on anything decent requited people to play on hosted dedicated servers that other pay a monthly fee for.
So no it is not a great F2p a portion of the player actuality pays ALOT, so others can play. Your ignorance on this subject is very obvious.
The valve servers are not that bad, though you are right I wouldn't want to play on them if the game was more competitive like League.
The only problem with F2ps in TF2 is how they're treated as naturally they're considered the "new playes" by the community, as a long time veteran that still plays TF2 to this day, they're like the running joke. But you gotta admit TF2 is pretty great that you dont have to worry about unfair advantages from F2P to P2P (unlike Lost Saga cough cough)
I mean it makes sense in TF2. You can buy starter packs and basic weapons/items for less than a dollar. Someone who remains F2P is either new, shut to spending money on games or has no financial independance.
I feel like they gave up on expanding the game. This entire thing smells of Ghostcrawlers influence from WoW.
Some rewards are good, but I want a great game to drive my enjoyment. Grinding out rewards like in WoW's honor system seems like a terrible direction to take the game.
All though you disagree with the premise it is actually a very smart and logical move for riot to do. Progression keeps players and randomness (like opening card packs) is rather addicting to most people. This move will probably keep playing longer and attract new ones.
You are totally right about that. It's a good business move. It's just not good game design if the rewards become the point of the game.

I honestly don't like the crafting system. League of legends has been my favorite game because it stood out from many others but now its feels like its starting to blend in with other games like dota and i really don't like it. [slayer-jinx-unamused]
"hipstur"
: Ok.
I still think you should be able to unlock skins with IP even if it's a ridiculous amount. (PLEASE RIOT, TAKE 10k FOR ONE I DON'T CARE) I just hope it's not near impossible to get a "permanent" skin (I almost guarantee it will be damn near impossible)
I spent enough on skins already, frankly they are over priced. and i'm looking forward to getting them for free now. But I guarantee there is some strong catch to it or ludicrously low drop rate for the "permanent" ones. because when I earn something I like to earn it forever not "rent" it. the week ones are near useless IMO I will say that right now... at least to me they are.
Honestly this is going to give me a good reason to try and form a regular team to play with, rather than just jumping on team builder and hoping for the best. There is so much they can do with this. They mentioned champs and skins, but they do things like:
I'm looking forward to see where they go with the crafting system after it's been out for awhile.
please let the rewards be available through CO-OP vs AI... i have missed out on thousands of points just because I didn't wanna face a toxic team that day...
You do realize that there are mute buttons right? And besides, not everyone is toxic and if they are, just be stronger than them and deal with it... I never get co-op vs ai only players.
