+1.
Why don't they do what they did with
to these problem causing assassins?
As I recall they said in their patch notes...
"Stop me if you’ve heard this one before: a high-damage carry champion builds primarily tank items and still manages to deal enough damage to duel everyone while being impossible to take down."
Hmmm... I think this applies to more than just Fiora...
Granted, some champions' scalings are harder to mess with than Fiora's.
Changes to the items would probably be a better option.
Petition to give Vaynes W an Ad scaling
Riot wants to encourage Vayne to build attack speed the same way Twitch and Kalista do. Don't agree with this.
This was sarcasm
Then put /s or Kappa or something.
You can't convey sarcastic tones on the internet otherwise and people will take things like that seriously.
And remove item viability from other champs? No thank you. Better to nerf numbers on specific champions than to nerf numbers on items.
Except nerfing Ekko's base damage completely destroys AP Ekko and makes the entire champion unviable. AP Ekko already has one of (if not THE) worst laning phase out of all assassins and lowering his bases and upping his ratios isn't going to change that when he will never be able to afford an AP item worth anything.
Ekko has not been in the bottom half of champions since his release by any credible metric. He's been overload and over-tuned since he came out, and they just slapped more buffs on him for three straight patches before he got here, at a 55%+ winrate, with nearly a 20% pick rate.
I would like nothing more than to see him gutted like Olaf was, down to a nice, old 32% winrate and sub 1% pick rate. Any game with no Ekko in it is about a dozen times better than one with him.
I don't think you understand what "base damage" is. Nerf the base values, the ones that you are guaranteed to have from skill level, not base stats/item stat scaling ratio. He has high enough base values that he can get away with going super tanky and still do strong damage. Nerfing the base value means focusing on his ratios, even if it means buffing them a bit, so that he has to go a bit more offensively built in order to do strong damage instead of being an abusive tank assassin. Also, his laning phase is not that bad at all... Not sure why he "can't afford" anything after lowering base values but he can before. Note: You can lower his upper values while leaving his lv1 skill values in place, or only slightly nerfing them.
Send AP Ekko mid and he gets DESTROYED by almost every match up in the book because it is melee vs range and he does not have the kill potential or waveclear of his assassin counterparts (Zed/LeBlanc have both and even Talon is a big threat after 6). Ekko can only land kills if he hits his W in lane (mid) and it is one of the most telegraphed abilities ever (the loud "STEP RIGHT UP!" just says back off for like 2 seconds then go back to beating my ass). He can't trade well with mages due to his kit since his Q-E gives a lot of mages a full rotation on him for free where both parties get halved.....but Ekko is more proned to get poked afterwards so he has to base (Ekko E's onto Viktor or Ahri and he takes their entire kit to the face).
AP Ekko top isn't much better since he has zero sustain and if you are going AP chances are Grasp isn't going to be worth it since you buy zero health items. He will simply get out sustained and beaten by most match ups who can either out damage him or not really care much about his damage (most Juggs easily out trade him and Malph/Rammus and Co can just take it and widdle him down since they can use grasp well and just sit on a spectre's cowl to make him an obsolete lane opponent).
You can send Ekko to top lane... or jungle... and he can often do so quite well. Even when sent to mid he can lane clear just fine bar a few match ups where he can still wave clear he just may miss some CS. He has a decently strong ranged attack with Q for clearing and harass. He has his Q + his W both of which can be used, each on their own, to allow him to move forward long enough to clear some creeps if they aren't under his tower. As a champion, he is extremely safe due to his ult, CC, shield, dash, and range/zone control even if he isn't fully ranged like many other mids. Yes, he has less kill potential early on against some champions depending on the match up if you don't use his ult properly and are going tanky at the start. It is not fair to compare single target assassin damage of Zed/Leblanc to his strong AoE damage and solid single target.
Yes, his W is telegraphed... and he also has a huge amount of zone control to force many champs to get hit by it. If they have the ability to evade it that means they likely aren't killing you when running from it. If they try to all in on you most champs will be hit by it. You can focus on not going for in-lane kills if it isn't a solid match up and focus on feeding kills to your other lanes/jungler. This is a very basic tactic to be fair.
He has a shield and quite a bit of CC/ult heal and mobility to avoid a lot of harass and get out pretty fast. This complaint can't be valid for Ekko yet so invalid for Fiora. With Vicktor he can easily avoid his W/E with his dash and his zone stun is far more frightening than Vicktors while having virtually the same limitation... Ahri can be side stepped for two of her abilities and Ekko has more than enough mobility to do so, especially when far less mobile champs can do so reasonably well.
Don't get grasp if you aren't going tanky Ekko. Many champs top and don't have sustain or strong sustain... and Ekko has his Q/shield and ult's heal as well as mobility/escape potential making him a lot safer top than many other options.
Malphite and Rammus are both melee and particularly susceptible to Ekko's Q/W. Cowl is particularly good against short trades. Against Malphite you could take Cowl as well or more Mres runes/masteries. This doubles up in Ekko's favor as Ekko is superior at extended trades and zone control to Malphite. In an extended trade Malphite does not benefit from his passive as much, or Cowl, and he has no proper method of trading hits after his initial CDs pop while Ekko does. Ekko can also juke his E with his own E and then move back in with the blink portion. Ekko can force Malphite to choose between sustained trade for CS/brawling or getting his passive back up to trade again at the cost of CS. Rammus you can simply not engage when he curls and Ekko definitely has the tools for this. Yes, some bad match ups may exist but he can be played safely so that he at least gets CS, maybe a kill or few if jungler can help, and assist other lanes/jungler or bide time until mid game. Heck, any champion with semi-decent ranged wave clear can usually survive a bad match up without falling significantly behind. Ekko is both safe and has an alright wave clear potential. If it is a particularly bad match up see about swapping lanes. In draft modes this is less of an issue and easier to compensate for.
Because
, the super-stat-stick that's caused nerfs for everyone that actually uses it except for Irelia, is totally not the problem, right?
Guinsoos isn't even problematic right now. At this point I think the majority of items are in great spots. Zzrot is a little annoying if more than one enemy builds it, but other than that.
Granted, some champions' scalings are harder to mess with than Fiora's.
Nerfs to the items would probably be a better option.
No, all of the champions building tank and doing absurd damage obviously have something wrong with them. ~7 damage champs is a much better dampening than 40+ tank/bruiser/juggernaut champs, especially when the large majority of those tanky champs are not issues atm.
Besides, most assassins could use some early game nerfs. They should be mid-game champions, focused on taking out high-priority targets in teamfights. Not champions that are built to get cheesy kills in lane and snowball off of it.
Gut their bases, give significant improvements to their ratios.

Aside from
most assassins have horrible laning phases until they gain their ults.

In my experience, only Talon and Diana have truly terrible laning phases among the assassins. The others are very safe overall or have an early game that needs to be respected. Yes, its hard to be aggressive or farm (usually not both at the same time), and sometimes even counter-aggressive, but if its easy, it just means you're all-inning every time your CDs are up or afk farming to a powerful mid-game...which isn't good design as far as gameplay dynamics, imo.
Why SHOULD an assassin be easy?

Let me bring Renekton mid. He'd get wrecked there. That means his laning phase is weak, right?
No, it doesn't. Also, one of their bases could be modified to not be excessively weak with those changes as well. Kat and Akali primarily use one skill during laning, while the others are used to help with last hitting for the most part. This makes them very safe in the fact that they have a ranged last hitting tool, as well as minor escapes/disengage. Being melee doesn't mean your laning sucks. Its just that people bring them mid against ranged champs/champs that are broken. Kat and Akali specifically have been nerfed to the ground for what they do, and with a minor rework would actually have pretty strong laning before these changes I think assassins should get.
All that needs to change is the all-in damage early and scaling so assassins require items before they can deal enough damage to be aggressive solo (which would also mean they couldn't effectively build tanky anymore). Keeping their farming tools usable, or even more usable, allows them to have a similar pattern to someone like Irelia back when her early game was extremely weak, but her laning was strong overall.
It also gives assassins a clear goal: play safe early so you can hit your mid-game power spike and wreck glass cannons. This is both a consistent gameplay element, and a satisfying one. It doesn't rely on snowballing like now, it relies on playing safe in lane. The disadvantage is that you almost will not get advantages early; you will be playing catch-up, as well as the chance that they could coordinate dives against you.
Let me bring Renekton mid. He'd get wrecked there.
Depends on the match up. Unless his opponent has a high degree of long range poke, he's going to give almost as good as he gets. While it thankfully never made meta, taking Renekton mid has happened on occasion.
My point was that prior to getting their ultimates, they are actually much weaker in lane. Meanwhile
actually have a pretty good chance of killing you around lvl 3-5 given a good player.
All that needs to change is the all-in damage early and scaling
I'd more aim towards pushing them towards more poke prior to attempting assassinations. I'd also want to push assassins to be more ult reliant as the game goes on. Many assassins can assassinate without their ult after getting a couple of kills, if we tie a good bit of assassination power to their ultimates, we can at least narrow the window in which they can blow someone up.
don't forget that while
&
may be mobile and damaging early, they both have awful waveclear.
zed has both.
Honestly I'd say the only advantage those two have on Zed is that him being energy based limits how long he can be in an extended fight. Meanwhile after building some mana on those two and getting a few levels, they can actually stay in a slug out for a lot longer.

Not true because Zed will kill them first. :^)
I could be wrong but I think Zed V Fizz is more of a skill match up. Kass though, yeah, his damage has been nuked into the ground, unless we're talking later in the game when he has items and some tankiness, he's probably dead.
Snake: "It's brilliant!" http://static.giantbomb.com/uploads/original/14/149714/2762810-box-tanks-1.png
I propose that all assassins have good base damage at level one. However, upon leveling the skill, the base damage hardly moves, maybe going up about 20 per point at most. This would prevent tanky builds . Their ratios could then be high, as items would be necessary to keep their damage.
If they need damage, it needs to be primarily in their scaling. If they wanna be tanky, they will have to deal with awful 120 base damage on their good skills, and thusly doing nothing.
That's more accurate than any developer corner could ever be.

Do u even tank bro?
No MR, yet still tank killer

I think
