League riddle

Five of the champions of the Rift were suspects in the theft of Fizz's trident. Each champion made three statements, two of which were true, and one of which was false. Can you name the thief?

Leblanc LeBlanc:

  1. I didn't take the trident.
  2. I've never stolen anything
  3. Malzahar did it. Yasuo Yasuo:
  4. I didn't take the trident.
  5. I have my own weapon (let's pretend we don't know yasuo has a sword or anything- we just assume he is either lying or being truthful).
  6. Ziggs knows who did it. Brand Brand:
  7. I didn't take the trident.
  8. I didn't know Ziggs before we fought.
  9. Malzahar did it. Malzahar Malzahar:
  10. I am not guilty.
  11. Ziggs did it.
  12. LeBlanc is lying when she says I stole the trident. Ziggs Ziggs:
  13. I didn't take the trident.
  14. Yasuo did it.
  15. Brand and I are old pals.

Right, so first off we have LeBlanc's statements -

Leblanc LeBlanc:

  1. I didn't take the trident.
  2. I've never stolen anything
  3. Malzahar did it.

We know that two of these statements must be true. If you look at the first two statements, you will realize that if 1. is the lie, then 2. must also be a lie. So we know that either 2. or 3. are the lie. We also know that LeBlanc could not have taken the trident. Now, let's link this to Malzahar.

Malzahar Malzahar:

  1. I am not guilty.
  2. Ziggs did it.
  3. LeBlanc is lying when she says I stole the trident.

The reason I went to Malzahar next is because he follows the same logic as LeBlanc; if statement 1. was a lie, then statement 3. would also be a lie. Therefore, we know that statement 1. is the truth, and that either statement 2. or 3. are the lie. However, because we know Malzahar is innocent, this must mean that statement 3. is the truth too, meaning statement 2. is a lie. This also means that Ziggs is innocent.

Brand Brand:

  1. I didn't take the trident.
  2. I didn't know Ziggs before we fought.
  3. Malzahar did it.

We know that statement 3. is a lie because Malzahar is innocent. Thus, we know that Brand is in fact innocent. We also know that him and Ziggs do not know each other.

Ziggs Ziggs:

  1. I didn't take the trident.
  2. Yasuo did it.
  3. Brand and I are old pals.

We know that statement 3. is a lie, since we just proved how Brand did not know Ziggs before they fought. This means statement 2. is the truth.

Yasuo Yasuo:

  1. I didn't take the trident.
  2. I have my own weapon (let's pretend we don't know yasuo has a sword or anything- we just assume he is either lying or being truthful).
  3. Ziggs knows who did it.

Don't need to do this one, all evidence points to the Unforgiven.

If leblanc didn't take the trident and hadn't stolen anything, hers is a dead end. If we assume she didn't take the trident, but has stolen other things, because it's impossible for 2 to be true without one, then three must be true. it would be malz, but that's impossible because all three of his statements contradict this, and one of them must be true.

Let's skip over to brand. We now know that Malz could not have done it by the base logic of the game, ergo Brand's other two statements must both be true. He is innocent, he didn't know Ziggs

Jumping over to Ziggs, We discover that Brand and him can't have been old pals, so Yasuo Must have done it.

The answer is Yasuo.

Just a pointer, I know that Seshs already posted an answer, but it has to be Yasuo. He was the only one who didn't directly blame someone, so the other people can't all be lying. Also, acting upon the assumption that Yasuo did take it, then him saying 'I didn't take the trident' has to be the lie, right? So, his statement 'Ziggs knows who did it' has to be a truth. Ziggs then proceeds to blame Yasuo, which matches up perfectly. He also says that he didn't take the trident, but Yasuo did, meaning that Ziggs is lying about his friendship with Brand. The other 3 characters don't really seem relevant to the riddle.

I think it's Yasuo? LB is lying about Malzahar, Yasuo is lying about stealing the trident, Brand is lying about Malzahar, and Malzahar is lying about Ziggs, and Ziggs is lying about Brand.

Is that right?
