Ragu client.

It's spaghetti code for the launcher.

Signed integer overflow. Basically the most significant bit becomes a 1 which is interpreted as a negative in a twos complement integer type. It's silly that a value that a value that can't be negative would be a signed type, thought its possible the language doesn't have primitives for unsigned types (like Java). There are tricks you can do with bit masking and casting to treat an integer as unsigned as long as you have a larger integer type.

For example, a short in Java (16 bit signed int) can be treated as unsigned as follows:

int unsignedExample = ((int) signedShort) & 0xffff;

An int in Java is a signed 32 bit integer. If you don't have a larger data type, such as a Java long (signed 64 bit int), you can do unsigned math using bit wise tricks.

If you know Java and want to learn more, check out Guava's primitives package. For those who don't know, Guava is Google's open sourced Java library that has some really great classes.
