When I'm fullbuild I usually have only 1 item without an active, and that's my boots.

When I play support, I always have my wards 2, potions 3, and most important item active at 5, but after early game, 3 is replaced by another item active.
Sometimes I'm happy I'm one of those shits who buys

I put 2 onto Hydra ALWAYS, and for any other build it is where I first put my active. If I get another Item will put is as 3 unless it is a QSS item that I put as 1. If I have 3 actives then it is all 3 of the buttons. If I have more than that I put the one I rarely use at 5.
In the meantime you end up drinking 3 potions, placing a ward, shielding yourself but still no stasis.
Righteous on 6 requires me to press it successfully twice in a fight.
Did i ever mention the first 1-5 are also actives?

I use three for the one i will use the most, then i go two, then five. Sightstone goes on five usually
Potions are on 3 until Sightstone is gotten. 
Potions move to 1, and Sightstone is on 3. If there's a hard defensive item, it goes on 2. Any 
initiation items go on 6. When the panic button is gotten, it goes on 1, and 
Potions move to 5. Situational 
items 
go on 7. If you have no eyes in your main build [

], then you're a fighter who needs 
a combat 
active on 3. Any overlapping themes or items would replace the Potions on 5.

I always pay attention to what slot it is placed in when i finish an active item and then change it accordingly. Difference between bads and ppl who know how to play. Bronze for life
