Yeah, you can tell in plat and gold (particularlly plat) games if you have a smurf on your team due to ho much lower those people might be compared to you.

False, my friend! Not when you are playing a plat game and there is a Silver 2 on the enemy team....
As you rise from Bronze to Plat, you notice differences. In general it's CS score, teleport ability, jungle mechanics, positioning. It all evolves as you increase rank, and for a reason.
