(In all seriousness) THANK YOU RIOT

Dear people on boards, please don't feel entitled to get something because the servers went down. This was out of Riot's control, and they took the time out of their lives on a** Sunday night** (or Monday morning depending on where you were) to help fix the game. This issue went on for 4-5 hours, and in that time, various Rioters worked not only diligently but on their own time too, as I'm assuming it isn't a normal day to work for 5 hours after you get done with work. So as you play league remember: the only reason you get to play league is because people took time out of their own lives to help fix the game that you play which they took care of relatively swiftly.

NOW LET THE APPRECIATION MEMES BEGIN!

**EDIT:**Since various people (as in 1 or 2, not looking at you, Things, you're great, no sarcasm intended) have been taking Memes and Games too seriously and apparently can't believe that people can be nice to each other, YES I KNOW PEOPLE GET PAID FOR THE FIXES. However, they took care of it in a timely fashion and did it late at night where I am (very early morning for most people).

I do not give a damn that it is their job. A SWAT team taking care of a hostage situation is part of their job. It's expected of them. If they save hostages, they are still heroes. To a lesser extent, this applies to the game. The Rioters are still nice people for taking care of their game, even if it was just because they wanted money, which may be part of it but not the entirety.

TL; DR: I know people got paid to do their job, but they did it well, so thank you Riot. And stop taking M & G so damn seriously people. It's alright to be nice to each other. Shocker.

**Edit Edit:**Guys. Just come on. Be nice to everybody. This thread is a positive one. Don't go around saying "HURR DURR NOBODY KNOWS IT'S THEIR JOB I'M SO ORIGINAL." We know it's their job. We've pointed it out 2139480321 times. If you're going to go around shooting others down, League is not the place for you and please get out of our community or at least off the boards. Offer criticism. Not insults. Also, first post on the screen when I checked boards! I'm so honored! And thanks for over 100 upvotes guys!

Why would they need to Compensate players for the server being down? That's like an Amusement Park having a Roller coaster closed for repairs and people demanding Free Hot dogs as a Result. It doesn't work like that.

true very true i have to say while it is annoying that servers go down when you want to play, understanding that that is going to happen at some point on any game you play. Riot does a pretty damn good job of getting it back up asap.

You make it seem like the work was done entirely for free, as though these people weren't compensated for their time, as if it wasn't their job to do what they did.

Yup, they could've easily ignored the issue until 8 A.M on Monday morning. God bless those people that worked odd Sunday hours and got paid to fix a problem, god bless their hourly hearts.

my face is ready to be dumped on with down votes for speaking unbridled truth with 0 sentimental regard to rito

edit - I see my prediction about the down votes was spot on, perhaps a self fulfilling prophecy? I don't mind them, one bit. I would ask that you at least contribute by typing something up to give me an idea of why you disliked what I shared in regard to the subject matter. Cheers!

How do I put this nicely.. Downtime = loss of sales. You know the whole purpose of this game is to be successful and profit? Everything that happens is all for that.

I think we need to start appreciating Riot more. I can't even fathom having to come onto the boards only to get hate over dyanmic queue or champion balancing every single day. Why would they even want to make changes if everyone will hate it anyway? its really sad. http://static.giantbomb.com/uploads/original/0/5765/2127430-charm.jpg thank you Rito, for everything you have done, and are doing to make this game more enjoyable. :3

Time out of their lives to do their jobs? I agree that people shouldn't rage over server issues because server issues happen to even the biggest and best companies. But I wouldn't go as far as to say Riot deserves appreciation for doing their job. Riot makes its money when the game is playable so people can buy skins, boosts or other in-game content, and server downtime loss of revenue. They don't deserve kudos for doing their jobs, but players also don't have the right to act like server issues are malicious.

First-world problems...

Hopefully my Edit Edit helps clear out the people who are regurgitating the same idea with no variation or feedback :P Anyways thanks to the people who are being constructive and nice on this thread! You guys are why me and many others still play league. May your opponents tilt and your games be won![slayer-pantheon-thumbs]

Finally, a thread like this where I can hop on!

Lots of kudos to Riot staff. Some of the users are so rude and entitled. There's the "I NEED TO SEE YOUR MANAGER" stereotype. Everyone knows the kind of awful customer that demands crazy unreasonable shit and throws tantrums. Riot's users are FULL of these. I can't imagine how it must feel for the Riot staff to work so hard on building this game, working on different strategies to see what works, balancing over a hundred different champions, etc etc etc and trying to meet the demands of some of the most entitled ungrateful customers on the planet who just take and complain about everything, and can't even say a simple thank you without adding in some passive aggressive "finally, Riot does something good".

Sometimes I worry that someone at Riot is going to say, "You know what, fuck this, we work so hard and people don't even appreciate it. Let's just go the corporate route and ignore everything the users say and focus on the investors" Probably not because Riot's business model seems successful. Or, I'm biased, because I like it. Riot's work environment sounds awesome and doesn't sweatshop their staff to burn-out. This is the one game I will spend money on (besides buying the game) purely because the content is amazing and everyone seems passionate about their work. They make entire interactive splash pages for big patch updates for goodness sakes. They have events. They have lore writers. Their staff regularly interact with the users. They take ideas from the community and put it into the game. Etc. etc. etc. I check for updates daily because I want to see what kind of cool new thing Riot comes up with.

People complain so much about Riot and I just can't see it. Riot is a business so of course they can't give everything away for free. People work really hard at this game and frankly, I think anyone who has had a job should be able to see this. Reading awful, personal attacks on the design team from people who seem to think making a champion consists of half an hour of drawing and shitty brainstorming just make me so sad. I like this game more than just the game, it's the universe and lore and all the cool skins and art and everything that I love the most. You can really feel the heart of the people working on this game in it.

if they dont fix the server, they lose money. there's nothing to thank for those people doing their job. 5 hours to fix a server that makes them millions.

However, they took care of it in a timely fashion.

ok 5 hours is not timely when you look at it 5 hours is almost 1/4 of a day so just no they were pretty slow and for a company that makes money that's slow and they know it was slow as well as the fact that it shouldn't have happened in the fist place
