Or at least a little blue. It doesn't have to be teal, or entirely blue, just some bluish color. Or any other color at all other than marble.

Well, blue is a Demacian color, and I just don't understand how they went from teal and gold to... no color at all. It's like they wanted to really convey he was a stone statue and it's like "yep, he is definitely mostly all a stone color". Just add some varied color, dammit! Is that so bad?

he u would listen to his quotes u would quickly recognize two things:

he sees himself more of a colossus (structure) than a gargoyle.
he IS a statue and old symbole of demacian glory, who just waits AGES to wake up if he is needed.

There's not much in the way of blue stone. And he is supposed to be made from anti-magic marble, which is white.

He's made from marble because that's Demacia's special anti-magic stone. It's kind of Demacia's "thing".

See, I consider myself pretty well-versed in the lore, a longtime fan since S2 and I've read almost every piece they've written. This "marble is anti-magic stone" is not established at all, meaning they just wrote it in recently. They could have made Galio out of anything and called it anti magic stone.

Besides, it's not the marble I care about, it's the bland color scheme.

When a statue is carved out of stone, it's going to be one color. The golden wings and decorations are enough to break up the "blandness" without taking away from the statue aesthetic. They could have painted him (and he may have been painted at one point, although that is unlikely), but that seems rather pointless, and age would have worn the paint away. Galio was intended to be a guardian, not a decoration. He wasn't made to look good, he was made to fulfill a purpose.

Galio's color scheme and design fit perfectly and help cement him into his lore.

I guess you and I just disagree on the importance of color scheme. To me, this color scheme is just one option of many for a statue character, you are not locked into a single color scheme just because he is made of stone. Further, I don't even think this palette matches all that well with other Demacian champions other than perhaps his gold wings. And all the gold is no lower than his chest, so it doesn't really break up as much of the main color as I think it should. Lastly, any lore elements should have been fabricated to serve a better design, especially since this was a pre-established character that basically had a completely different color palette. Galio's new design makes sense with his new lore, but both of these things are brand new, not servicing the previous character of Galio whatsoever, other than "he's a statue" I guess.

I guess that's my main criticism; Riot took a single aspect of Galio's character--he's a statue--and did nothing but focus on that, even though there are many other interesting (if underdeveloped) elements to Galio. Including his visual appearance. Old Galio's design was a mess but at least interesting, new Galio's design is boring.

Hence the "not much". There are very few types of blue stone, and the types that do exist aren't particularly good for building statues out of, especially on Galio's scale.

I suppose technically you can be nostalgic for something that happened 5 minutes ago, but most people don't think "nostalgia" for something so recent. I think 10 years should be the minimal time-frame.
