New COD concept. 2nd person shooter. You have first person view, but it's from the view of a squadmate and the story is him telling about the adventures of him and his buddy.

Dr Poro1 votesA bystander makes it 3rd person though. What we call third person is basically a floating bystander or drone following you. 2nd person litterally has to be your opponent. In a fight, it's me vs you and then there's him/her/them.
Beas7ie1 votesI'm not sure. I'm just basing this off of other media like books or stories here so maybe this is off. But the way I remember it is that first person is through the eyes or in stories words of the main character. In games it would be like FPS or in books it would be the main character tell about his or her adventures and you also see only his or her private thoughts. Good example is Uhtred of Bebbanburg in the Saxon Chronicles(awesome series you need to go and read it all like right now).
Third person is in games like the "drone view" or in some cases the "over the shoulder". But you can see your character and have actual peripheral vision. In most books it's just telling about the adventures of the main characters and usually includes their private thoughts as well.
To the best of my knowledge, in stories and books, second person is someone telling about the adventures of the main character like maybe someone telling about the adventures of his buddy who's the mighty hero adventurer and all the dragons he slew.
In games it would be controlling a character through the eyes of another character. An enemy is certainly a good example but it could also possibly be any other bystander, squadmate, or ally.
Not entirely sure though, as we would need some kind of "person view" or whatever expert to come and clear things up.
Anyways, this is all probably moot as I don't really see anyone trying to go all out in making a "second person" game.
And now I feel kind of like a dumbass for taking the time to think through this and type it all out.

How would you aim?!? What would you do if you were in a super tense fight, and your buddy suddenly looked somewhere else?!? What if you got stuck on some debris and he wouldn't look at you?!?

Itsbeghdev1 votesAccording to Wikipedia at least, the second-person mechanic isn't permanent and also stops you from moving while you use it, plus it's more of a stealth game than a shooter.

Might be an interesting idea for a game, having it so you have no access to a camera directly on your character, though it would likely need to be more puzzle and/or stealth based.

Glory ln Death1 votesThat'd be a pretty interesting "game mode" for those kinds of games. You and your friend sit on the wrong sides of the screen and put up a divider so you can't see your character's perspective and see who wins. It would have to be a small, open map, though.
