Off-topic: From my experience, cats don't seem to like it when one's touching somewhere around their chest and belly. They seem to prefer being touched in cheek and chin area, and their back. And that's assuming they are open/warmed up enough to touches otherwise it's teeth and claws no matter where you're trying to pat them.

Unlike dogs, cats natural prey in the wild, so they're naturally really protective of their more vulnerable parts. That's why cats will flop on their back as a sign of trust, they're saying "You could kill me now, but I know you won't." A cat that really trusts you will sometimes let you scratch their chin and neck, but cats almost never let someone scratch their stomach.

An exception is one of my cats. She'll flop on her back and beg for belly rubs.
