The trick to landing skill shots in lane is anticipation. If you watch your own minions health as well as your theirs while you're csing you can surmise when the enemy is going to last hit a minion. You then judge the range of their aa since most people aa at max range and then aim your skillshot between them and the minion at their max range and then they either have the choice to eat the skill shot for that one cs or lose the cs. This is extra effective if you are a support and the enemy is not focusing on you. If you still have trouble hitting skillshots in teamfights then aim for the enemies that are cced by your team. It will help immensely.

Knowing when to quickly run backwards even if it's in the opposite direction of your escape, one of the mechanics that truly separates the good players from the bad.

Then again maybe everyone does this and I wouldn't know because i'm in Bronze lol

When I play Thresh, I usually don't aim my hook directly at the opponent, but instead I try to predict (or should I say: guess) where they will move trying to dodge it. Bu then... they "dodge" it by standing still...
