Ran into a guy who actually was under the delusion that people take the time to make accounts and generate champion pools so you get the unfair champs in aram.

Everyone on my team was in plat or higher

That is something people do though. It's not terribly common, but for those who pretty much play ARAM and nothing else, it makes sense.
