Nah, the reason why Honey Badgers are so willing to take on Lions, Snakes, etc. is because of their incredibly thick and strong skin. Animals that rely on sharp claws/teeth can't penetrate their skin. It's a badger, not a skunk. And badgers run off a lot of animals in the wild including but limited to lions, wolves, foxes, coyotes, and bears.

While the carnivorous bunch can kill badgers, badgers also have really bad tempers and nasty habits that make them near guaranteed to maim and cripple limbs on any attacking animal. Which in the wild as practically a death sentence on its own.

Badgers may be small, but no one wants to mess with the guy willing to take you down with him.
