As a kid, Vi moves to a rural village hidden somewhere in the mountains, far from society. There, she makes some new friends and learns about the local culture revolving around the region's resident guardian deity. During an annual festival meant to celebrate said deity, Vi meets two new people who reveal to her a gruesome history: every year, on the night of the festival, one person is murdered, and one person goes missing. Lo and behold, these two people end up being the victims the next day. Spurred on by a local policeman who is using her to assist in his investigation of the events, Vi becomes more fearful and paranoid about what happened. Seeking council, Vi goes to her friends to discuss what happened, but only hears nothing but rejection and denial. Her friends aren't telling her anything, avoiding questions and refusing to give her answers. Though they try to reassure her that there is nothing wrong, it only comes off as more suspicious. Why? What secrets are they hiding? Are there things Vi isn't meant to know? Were they a part of it? Do they already have a new target, and if so, who? Could it be... her?

During the event, two things happen. A typhoon hits the island, stranding the entire family indefinitely, and a mysterious letter comes from a woman claiming to be the grandfather's advisor, saying she will be taking the inheritance instead. However, she will allow the family to take the inheritance for themselves on one condition. Within the mansion, there is a portrait of her, and a riddle below it. If any member of the family can solve the riddle within a certain time frame, they will become the grandfather's successor and claim the family's assets. If they fail, they get nothing, and the woman takes claim to everything within the family's name. Intrigue and mystery follow when competition and distrust get the better of Katarina's family, leading to heated disputes and wild accusations. In the meantime, Katarina encounters the woman herself, who claims to be a witch. Katarina does not buy into it, but when family members begin to die under strange, seemingly inexplicable circumstances, the witch presses her to admit to the existence her powers. Where is the truth? Why and how do family members keep dying? Are they killing each other off to claim the riches for themselves, or is it the witch utilizing her powers to get Katarina to admit witchcraft is real? Will Katarina be able to unveil the truth behind their circumstances before the clan meets a grizzly end?
