It's kinda sad that someone with English as a second language knows more grammatical rules than those who were born here. Probably because, being one's second language, that person needs to actively learn it rather than (<--eh? :P) learned it at birth from those who also were not actively paying attention. However, that begs the questions, "If 'natives' speak it incorrectly, why don't they just change the rules?"

Because they simply don't care. They view the language as their owned property, which seemingly allows them to butcher it to their heat's content.
