Frozen heart is usually better.

With thornmail you give a bit of damage back to him, but with Frozen heart you constantly have an aura in which is main source of damage (autos) are greatly reduced.

Plus it gives you great stats instead of just the armor.

I understand why you might think that, but it's really not as good as straight up armor+health is. Or movement speed so he never gets in range.

Well, I normally am Garen fighting a Hexdrinker, not the other way around lol. And yeah, while it doesn't actually shut him down, it is annoying as hell that you ult someone with only 5% health left, and they survive.

It only seems that way because you don't account for it. If they had more armour or HP they wouldn't even get to 5% and your ult would be just as wasted. At least with 5%hp and hex on CD you can force them back, if they're too tanky to even get into ult range you're in a much worse position.

And if they buy enough movespeed to keep kiting you then thornmail is your only hope. Unless it's cassio, then you're just fucked.

Oh normally I still beat them. Garen is a great lane bully. But Hexdrinker can be the difference between barely killing them or them barely getting away.
