Actually, Bard's mask is its face (or rather, the closest thing it has to one).
Bard is a cosmic force from another plane that interacts with the world of runeterra by manipulating a ragdoll like a magical puppet.
The only thing beneath that mask is a sack, filled with the energy of the universe.
This puts an interesting twist on his skins. They are Bard manipulating things other than his usual ragdoll (a Tree with some fabric scraps, a pile of old winter clothes).
