I've won so many games with triple jung before. Usually it has to do with no bot lane but a top and mid, getting the mid fed, letting the top hold his own, and shutting down the bot lane. Its so funny and oddly works if we work together.
It really sucks being the jungler on the other side of this kind of fight. I speak from experience

I just had a nasus vs gp lane where he was constantly all-in, neither of us got much farm but had a hell of a time killing each other. Forget ideal play patterns, two farm champions at each others throats is the silliest thing to live

Hahaha that's a good one. Recently I played a game that was really out of place. We had an adc and support both in the top and bot lanes. We had no jungler. I was Elise mid with 
and 
so I could roam really quick if needed. We won.
Honestly, when it comes to meta, I find the only thing that matters is a good balance of damage types and range (at least for most games against most people, ranked or not. I won't say how things go in high elo though.) You had damage/range balance to a T, no traditional support/adc duo required.
What gets iffy though are all-melee teams. I mean, sure, you might win. But sometimes, you reach this massive up-hill climb near midgame, where you CANNOT gain further objectives, even if you're ahead. No ranged against a team with ranged just... crushes your siege potential.
I bet there are solutions to that though:
