What cannons? MF Blew them up. . Not to mention she's painting the town red with his loyal men, and burning all his establishments. Badass though our former reaver king was, He's going to have to start more or less from scratch, amass his forces and prepare for a showdown.
MF isn't an idiot either. When she doesn't get hold of his body, she'll likely organize a manhunt to try and capture him or gum up any resistance efforts. The two have in a way swapped positions, with MF being in a position of power and Gangplank needing to bide his time for an opportunity to strike.
