I can't find my Azir jungle game. It worked, but the only reason it did was because they had a Nasus jungle. We both just kinda farmed our own sides. I think there was 1 gank all game and that was him popping a whither on our top laner.

You should try Morg or Karthus jungle, Morgana has pretty good clears with W and decent sustain thanks to her passive, the ganks aren't bad either, just Q someone and if it hits you're in business. Karthus can get free assists from anywhere on the map and scales up into a monster late game.

Hilarious if they have an AP midlaner, since most of your kit is useful for the gank. Sometimes you can throw your E on your midlaner and call it a day.

Has been a thing for years. Its almost just a secondary role for her. Its' no more "off meta" than a Lux or Annie support.

Just because it's been a thing in the past doesn't make it meta, a champion can be in their primary role and still be out of the meta and Sona is still played as a support in the vast majority of games that she is in.

Edit: Also I just realized I was actually top in that particular game, since I lane swapped with the Irelia.

I think you are confusing unpopular with off meta.

An example of off meta would be taking a mage into the adc role and building them like one. Taking a champion that can qualified as a mage into the lane they are most associated with, especially one that has been their in the past isn't "off meta."

Unpopular, sure. But it still follows the 1-1-1-2 meta where a mage like champion is in the mid lane.

Seems like you have a more specific definition for off meta than most, it's not just team comps that can be off meta. The meta refers to both the roles that most often make up a team as well as the champions that fill them, MF, Kog'Maw and Ezreal are meta picks right now where Twitch, Varus and Tristana are not quite in the meta, they aren't really called out as breaking the meta because they at least fit the overall meta for the team comps but might fall short against the current popular picks, meaning that picking them is not necessarily the most-effective-tactic-available.

First off that comment is from a week ago, little late.

Second you have no idea what the difference between meta and popular are. Taking Sona in the mid lane is unpopular, taking a champion with a mage tag in the mid lane is meta.

This means the strongest champions for each role during a given patch. Sona hasnt been the strongest anything in quite sometime.

Not sure where I said anything about "taking a mage/support mid lane being off meta" in my previous comment.

I'm pretty certain we can say there is direct correlation between meta picks and popularity. Take Aatrox for instance. He is not popular atm, and I don't qualify him as an effective pick, since all he got was nerfs in the past year, and so we can all agree he is off meta.

And to answer your previous claim that claim that "taking a champ with a mage tag in the mid lane is mrta", I'll use the same example as in my previous comment; Leona has Tank as a secondary role. By your logic, she is top meta, and I dare say the popular opinion is in fact the complete oposite, not saying its unfun or anything.
