Can confirm like 90% of dogs do this when you just want to cuddle 'em. I've house sat pet owners' houses a lot over the years (this one family goes on vacation every year and they have like 8 dogs its crazy.)

It's part of the reason I'm a cat person :^)

Cats and people would also do this if you suddenly dropped on them in their sleep. :)

Can confirm cats don't actually

I want to test this out.

Yep, he ran off.

Because dogs aren't half-sentient pillows that you are entitled to cuddle with at any time. They get startled, they have boundaries, they wish for you to respect them. I don't think you'd like it if an acquaintance suddenly began smothering you with their body, especially a rather tall and heavy one. You'd probably try to duck away or run. Imagine like you're a small person, and you're minding your own business, and your parents/brother's/roommate's houseguest who is twice your height keeps doing surprise trust falls.

It is actually scientifically true that cats are more intelligent than dogs.

Actually the Cat Dog intelligence argument is still very inconclusive, actually there is more concrete evidence that dogs are smarter because their brains still change and have increases in grey matter due to their social learning nature and larger brains. (larger brain doesn't mean smarter but it points to it) and your statement is as far from scientifically true as possible to be. Good arguments can be made that cats are as smart as dogs, but even cat experts are very hesitant to claim they are smarter, unlike other scientists who claim dogs are smarter. Still the results are inconclusive in the scientific community thanks to the fact that there are different types of intelligence and that one does not simply measure it. This article's not the best, but aside form linking you a few dozen Scientific Daily articles on the same subject this Article does sum it up quickly if you'd like to take a look at it. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/joan-liebmannsmith-phd/the-cat-vs-dog-iq-debate-revisited_b_1572610.html

Actually, a lot of studies reveal that cats are smarter than dogs...

But they just don't care.

Seriously, brainwaves and everything tested, cats are very smart animals but they never care.

This is true. One of the only reasons that they are domesticated is that they wanted to be domesticated. It allowed them to get free food and other things. That is also the reason they seem to like you.

You're partially correct, but for several reasons, I wouldn't even click on that article.

  1. Huffpo
  2. IQ was developed as a measurement of how well people, compared to their age groups, perform in a school based on industrialist principles in a variety of subjects that include necessity of the mastery of language.
  3. That being said, how can one apply the concept of IQ, which is generally thought of as having little real value in determining a whole picture of intelligence, to animals who don't read or write?

The truth is stickier, but in some areas, cats excel, and in some areas, dogs excel. They evolved differently, to different things, and humans kept them around for different reasons--but one of the universal criteria was likely intelligence. Horses are another contender who are more intelligent than, and even make better service animals than dogs in some ways. The key word is "some". At this point, there isn't even full scientific agreement on how to define or quantify human intelligence, let alone do that for other animals, and create an accurate ranking between them.

Oh uh. I thought this was memes and games. Sorry, I'll be more politically correct next time.

But to explain I actually see them sleeping or laying down and I'll get down on the ground too to pet em and they love it. But whenever I move my head over them, they get up like in the gif. It's because they get excited, actually. Their tail starts wagging and they try to get as many licks on my face as I can until I get pushed over. Bigger dogs do this, the smaller dogs don't mind and actually stay put.

I would hate for an acquaintance to do that to me but a member of my family sure as fuck can lol. It's not like I'm a stranger to em, I see them like everyday

Oh uh I didn't realize that every reply that ran even slightly contrary to one of my comments warranted an excessively butthurt reaction in which I must insinuate that I'm being censored by pc police when, in fact, neither the topic nor the post in question have anything to do with politics, society, or political correctness.

My 3 yellow labs never did that when I was a kid, but then again I was a kid.

My doggy's really lazy patient. She won't move for anything unless you have food.

EvilUnicornLord3 votes

My dog won't move either...

He died.

Best Kog NA1 votes

No he didn't. He went to a happy place where he can chase squirrels all day long. [zombie-nunu-tears]

Perhaps not so much squirrels and more turkeys, Max loved chasing wild turkeys. But, yeah, he's in a better place.
