I hate to say it, because I love the shit out of him and he takes a good amount of skill to play, but:
He's so niche, and you need to have such an understanding of his kit to make him work, that he's a great troll pick due to his inability to do that well in lanes, and his capability to sneak off into the enemy jungle and steal their shit. Most people don't play him or know how to play him, that they'll do terrible with him.
The VO also helps immensely with the trolliness.

When was he a troll pick? His problem was garbage itemization, but he was the grand king of the hit-and-run support style with solid sustain.
The new nunu is better at running it down mid because of that huge snowball.

Nunu has a movespeed snowball ability it seems, so hes still gunna be able to run it down.
And theres always draven.
Isn't it still possible to just run it down mid with any champion?
