Teamwork on the bot lane

Right, 300 gold is less than 500 gold, but it's still 300 gold. The best case scenario is everyone gets away, so that is priority number one. The last resort is that someone of lesser value sacrifices themselves and, this is the important part, it's not always going to be the support. Saying you're supposed to die for your teammates as a support is suggesting that your death has no impact, and that's not true for a variety of reasons besides gold (opportunity cost of skills they could have used while alive, for instance).

So yes, it's good to reduce costs when mistakes are made, but that's the last resort when no other options are available or when any risk to the threatened parties is totally unacceptable.

If anyone dies, it's because somebody messed up. And if the support has to die for the ADC, it's either because the ADC got caught out of position, or the support dies a needless death.

They aren't worth any less, by the way, unless the ADC is on a killing spree.

As a support main, I want to say this

If there is no way to stop a death, you try to save your highest worth ally, if a death can be avoided you do that

Caitlin ult going for your adc both you and adc are 50 hp no mana, you as the support have 2 kills 0 deaths while the adc has 1 death and 2 assists (we all no this occurs at times) it's better to let the adc die, because one of you WILL die, and the adc is worth less gold, reverse the kills and such, and you die because you are worth less

At times it's better to die even when you are worth more gold, to keep your adc in lane farming, but when you are both to low to stay anyway it's better to go based in value

Another thing to consider is who stops pushing better to prevent a tower loss, I've died to keep jungles alive for dragon or baron competition before

There's a lot of factors to consider when you have to chose who dies, but the objective is never to die yourself, it's to give the enemy team the smallest advantages they can get vs a bigger advantage, like killing your jungle run then going for baron, better for the support to die usually than the kinglet when baron is in question

Unless of course your kinglet is considerably behind and your teams ability to compete baron would be greater with you alive than your jungler (blitz is good at this for picking them into your team to kill them before they can react

Yes, they are. If someone worth a lot of gold is about to die a player worth less gold, maybe a support with few kills or an ally who's already died a few times, should try to intervene and help them escape, most likely dying in the process but reducing the amount of gold the enemy team gets for that.

Drives me batty when I save a carry's life, then they turn back to try and fight instead of just running.
